OK look. I know we choose ESPN because they suck. And some movements are not indicative of that week's performance & may have more to do with their surrounding teams than themselves.

However.

How do you decisively beat a division rival on MNF and LOSE A FARKING SPOT!??? I'm not trying to say, oh, Cowboys should be #1, but we definitely shouldn't have been dinged a spot. This is ludicrous and atrocious and altogether unwarranted!

OK got that out of my system. GRAF coming soon & we've got some big dives. But I guess Week 3 is when we start to figure out who's who in the league.

Hey, don't say that!

WFT could still come back and clinch the division!  We have 13 (?) weeks before we play Dallas (and Eagles/Giants again) and everyone could be injured again and we'll win, just like last year!  ^_^

/not saying I want Dak and others to get injured, just sayin' it could happen

Yeah, I doubt that's happening, like ever. The Maras, Rooneys, Browns and probably a couple of other dynastic ownerships I'm not thinking of are going to own their respective teams forever. Or until it gets left to some scion who doesn't really care about owning the team

Now, I admit that Jalen Hurts needs to work on some things, but...

It really isn't fair to a young QB (playing in his 7th game total) to run the ball all of... 3 times. *THREE*. Uno, Dos, Tres. Not 4, and 5 is right out, the counting is *3*.

That's the lowest amount of rush attempts, by any team, in *20 years*. Even Andy Reid, at his worst pass-pass-pass mania, was never that stupid.

And don't give me the damn "Well, we were behind by multiple scores" BS that Sirianni tried afterward. You were down only *2 scores* at the start of the 2nd Half. There's no way in hell that means you have to pretend that you still need to throw the ball without stop.

That game was an embarrassment of epic proportions. The defense (except for Hargrave) sucked, the offense sucked, the game planning sucked, the play calling sucked, the preparation sucked, the QB sucked, etc.

I agree that he needs to work on some things, but I saw some flashes last night. He's quick, athletic, takes chances, makes crazy plays out of what looks like a complete bust. I mean, if he works on his decision-making, which comes with experience & maturity, he could be really dangerous AND IT'S PISSING ME OFF.

Oh, definitely. He's not dumb, he's exciting and has a habit of not giving up (but also - usually - not taking stupid chances), and he definitely has the arm. But it would help him if his coach didn't try to get him killed right away.

Aye. Who wants a graf!?

Fark user imageView Full Size

Aye, listen up! Here's some useless shiat to ponder:

Change from Week 1 to this week:
One 12-point drop: Colts
One 16-point jump: Raiders

Three teams are WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE! Bucs, Bills, & Packers are back at their Week 1 Ranking. AND WE LET 'EM OFF THE HOOK!

Change from last week to this week:
One 11-point drop: Seahawks
One 9-point jump: Chargers, who the Cowboys beat last week, by the way, just saying

6 teams did not change rankings: Titans, Patriots, Football Team, Jaguars, Lions, & Jets

Number of times rankings have changed:
2 teams have changed once: Lions & Patriots
19 teams have changed 3 times, or every week

Difference between high rank & low rank:
Lowest fluctuation: Lions, & Bucs with 1
Highest fluctuation: Raiders with 16
Average fluctuation is 6.75, which is a big jump from last week's 5.

Most spots traveled (largest overall fluctuation):Saints with 20

Teams hitting their highest rank this week: Rams, Chargers, Raiders, Panthers, Broncos,  & Bengals
Teams hitting their lowest rank this week: Chiefs, Seahawks, Steelers, Colts, Dolphins, Bears, Giants, & the Cowboys SOMEHOW

THREE teams have held the #1 spot: Chiefs, Bucs, & Rams

As a side note, the only thing that shocked me more than the Cowboys LOSING A SPOT this week was the dive the Chiefs took. I've apparently only been doing this graf since 2018,* so I went back through 2018-2020 just to check & this is the lowest they've been ranked out of all 4 years. Last year's low rank was 3, in 2019 it was 9, an din 2018 it was 6. Truly unprecedented (since 2018) times.

*that can't be right.... maybe 2017 & before are on a thumb drive somewhere....

It's the first time the team has been under .500 in 6 years.

Fun fact: They had the second-longest streak of being #1 (or tied for #1) in the division in NFL history when it ended last week. Without Googling, can anyone guess who had the longest?

Incorrigible Astronaut: Andy Reid can coach.

Next week is Chiefs-Eagles. The Chiefs are coming off 2 straight losses, Andy is looking for his 100th win as Chiefs coach (which would make him the first coach to get 100+ wins with 2 different teams), and the Eagles couldn't even come close to the Cowboys offense last night.

I don't care what the point spread is, bet on the Chiefs.

More than anything else, teams massively overreact to being behind. There's like half a game left! You don't have to go all air all the time just because you're down a score or two.

I agree. They may not have been 4th place material, but they're also not "dinged 7 spots" material.

And on a similar note, and I can't believe I'm about to defend the farking LIONS..... but they lost on a last-second, record-breaking, physics-defying doink to the Ravens, whose kicker is an absolute freak of nature.

I know this may be controversial, but they don't deserve to be 30th. The Lions are being disrespected here. I'd put them somewhere between the Steelers & the WAFT, low 20's.

It doesn't seem right, but if you look at who crossed their ranking, it makes sense:

Steelers and Seahawks plummeting below them after losing to inferior teams and making it a 2 game losing streak.

Chargers skyrocketing up after beating the big bad Chiefs.

Broncos and Panthers barely sneaking by them after continuing to go undefeated.

The only one I could argue against would be the Panthers, but that's mostly due to the McCaffrey injury, which I don't know if the rankers take into account.

That's the typical Monday night penalty that ESPN is known for. If your team is playing Monday, they are usually one of the teams that get bumped a point to let another team that played on Sunday rise. The same thing happens to teams on their bye-week. It's part of what makes the ESPN rankings so bad.
