How is their public transit infrastructure holding up?

@&#%ing unwind brexit already. It is the cause of every single bit of this stupidity.

Start a movement to rejoin the EU.

If only someone had predicted things like this would happen.

2021-09-28 1:04:58 PM
Remember last year when people were filling trash bags and plastic storage bins full of gasoline from local pump stations?

If you hadn't lost your faith in humanity before than, I feel like that shoulda done it.

play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Brexit is a very STUPID game.

/I live in the US, our stupid game is bigger.

Are they trying to hoard shopping bags full of gasoline, or does that only happen in the US?

Show me the pictures of people filling garbage bags with gas. That's the real proof the country has a problem.

So it sounds like those who panic bought early were wise to do so before the shortages began.

FTA

A post-Brexit shortage of lorry drivers, exacerbated by a halt to truck-driving-license testing during Covid lockdowns, has sown chaos through supply chains, raising the specter of shortages and price rises in the run up to Christmas.

I'm sure Brexit Bob will be along shortly to tell us that the first part of the sentence is in no way true and that this is all a misunderstanding.

So they drive on the wrong side of the road AND they fill up on the wrong side of the car?  No wonder they're messed up.

There's nothing more likely to trigger panic buying, than a government request to not engage in panic buying.

I don't think the EU would want to go down that path at this point. The UK is to politically volatile.

They really need to get rid of first-past-the-post elections and introduce proportional representation. Kinda like Murka.

They won't dare, as they know that if they try to rejoin the EU now they'll never get back that real sweetheart deal they had before, such as being able to keep the Pound as their currency and other benefits other members didn't enjoy, and they will just not be able to accept that. The UK government would rather have all its citizens slowly stew in their own shiat than not be a Superior member of the EU.

Once you break the system, it's difficult to scramble to replace it.

It's one of the many, many collateral effects that Brexiteers were warned about -- but refused to listen to because of the feelings.

ilambiquated: I don't think the EU would want to go down that path at this point. The UK is to politically volatile.

The EU would absolutely take them back, and on similar terms. It'd be a complete justification & validation of the EU and common market itself, and that's more than enough of a win and reason to do so.

What it really takes is a united UK political opposition with that as the goal. There's already a popular voting majority for "Fark this, it was ALL far better before and Brexit farked it up."

A lot of gas stations would be more efficient with one way in one way out pumps and hoses long enough to reach the other side.  I've seen it at a couple of USA truck stops.

Truck drivers should all be making bank, like 200K a year. They apparently hold the world in their hands as an under appreciated worker.

I'm good friends with an American woman and British man who got married and decided to live near her parents here in Florida.  Their decision process was that Brexit was probably going to be worse than Trump.  I thought they were crazy at the time.

No no no, it's because of COVID and other things and reasons and because, you're just a terrible Remoaner who will still be complaining in 200 years.

Also, did you know America has some problems too? That means the UK problems has nothing to do with Brexit, because obviously, the same problem always has the same cause.

From what I can tell, people in Britain go to work so that they can vacation on the coast of Spain.  So you might as well just live where it's already warm anyway.
