If you like football and a bit of weirdness, you need to watch these two on Monday night. Good Stuff.

I'm going to take any opportunity I can to rip on Eli, but this is hilarious. And if looking at him "give the bird" hurts your feelings, then maybe the problem isn't Eli, it's you. They're FINGERS. They can only offend you if you let them.

This is the broadcast I watch now, I love it. I only caught the last quarter last night but Eli making fun of Payton's giant head was funny.

I think they said they're off until week 7 or 8 now.

These guys make MNF bearable.

This really is the better way to watch football on TV. You don't need a play by play guy telling you what's happening. You can see if for yourself. And when something actually interesting happens, you have someone knowledgeable giving you perspective/analysis. The rest of the time, you've got people cracking jokes and having a good time like you would be doing if you had any friends.

"Loathsome" is a word that isn't used nearly enough in the NFL.

The fact that these two, in addition to knowing football, can just rip on each other endlessly, or actually comment on real things, without it feeling uncomfortable or weird is what really sells it. It's not announcers trying to push a "story" (or, worse, pretend an actual story doesn't exist outside of maybe a brief comment), or repeating worn-out cliches 1000x each game ("they have to block the pass rush from getting to the QB!"), or pretending that whatever stupid thing the sideline reporter came up with is the most brilliant, unexpected item ever heard ("the coach says that if they score more, they're chances of winning go up").

Yup. Although I liked the suggestion in the thread last night that they really should be MST3K-style overlays instead, there would probably be complaints about covering up the (lack of) action.

Don't you mean "sportsball"?

At times, it seems they're having too much fun, which is fine with me.

I agree. The only drawback I can think of is that they put the game on small-screen a little too often in order to accommodate guests & Peyton's giant head. Watching two teams I don't give a rip about, this is awesome. But when it's my team, I'll watch the regular presentation.

Or..... maybe I need a bigger TV..... hm......

Or, envision this... you have a *second* TV. One has the full-sized game on with no sound, the other has either ManningCast or RedZone.
