Well, now she will not be seeing him for a while. He's probably happy to get away from her.

How are any of these people ever caught?

Don't you just snag a prepaid phone with cash and make the call from a busy parking lot or something?

/I should buy a prepaid phone now just in case I ever need to do this. The further back my purchase is the less likely it could be traced to me.

How was the wrong question. I should have gone with why.

Obviously it's because they are dumbasses, but still... It's like they aren't even TRYING to get away with their crimes.

Shockingly, people who do things like call in bomb threats because then their boyfriend can play "find the wet spot" for a while longer don't tend to think their actions through.

Gee, I have to wonder in amazement as to why he feels like spending time at work. Probably puts in a lot of "overtime" at "work" as well.

It seems like the police response to bomb threats against a manufacturing plant is a bit more rigorous than the response to, say, the aftermath of a home burglary.

"State Police notified Pittsfield police and the sheriff's offices in both Somerset and Penobscot counties, and then traced the call to [the town of] Etna, Bickmore said. Penobscot deputies found the woman after interviewing people in an Etna neighborhood."

The call had to originate from somewhere. Start there. Hit the streets, interview people -- they didn't even get to the part where they play CSI with footage from a parking lot security camera.

Seriously, wait until they find out that the judge isn't even going to bother looking at the twenty seven eight-by-ten
color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back
of each one.

Unless her boyfriend is the Pillsbury Doughboy himself, ain't nobody got enough flour to find her wet spot.

Once you start paying attention to details like that, you soon start thinking, is this a good idea? From there it's a short walk to deciding not to do crimes.

Yes, you quoted the article quite well.

Care to apply their "we interviewed folks in a town" to my burner phone + call made hidden in a car in a busy area?

Unless I tell people about my plan, are you saying if cops knock on thousands of doors they'll find out who went to the busy strip mall plaza at 2pm with a consensus of people recalling which person made a phone call?

I'm saying that this type of crime SHOULD be one that can't be caught, unless cops can actually ID the exact phone and trace it to purchase.
