Boris Johnson should be followed around by the music from the Benny Hill show.

This will turn out OK, they will just blame immigrants for fleeing to the EU with the gas, then double down and buy cars with worse gas mileage

2021-09-28 2:27:07 AM
So Russia trolled Brexit to shaltai boltai the EU, now UK BoJo needs to buy gas and smelly ol Vladimir Putin has gas for sale.

Even if I could warn the past about the future, they'd never do a damn thing about it or understand.

This is the result of hating foreigners so much everything you try to do to court them, because you need their cheap labor since your own citizens view those jobs as beneath them, is always obviously marred by the fact that you really despise their being and wouldn't think twice about bodily throwing them in the ocean at the slightest problem, no matter how vital they are to your society.

There is no fuel supply shortage, but just in case of any demand issues the army is standing by and ready to assist, as soon as they have been able to refuel.

Have they arrived to tell us how this is perfectly okay and thanks to the $350,000,000 they save EVERY WEEK almost everyone in Jolly-Old is driving around in a free tesla hence the reason they there is no gas (sorry, no "jolly-old petrol") available and all those people are crisis actors?

this has always been bewildering to me.

living in constant fear of invasion, tough rationing, few consumer goods, no luxuries, bare bones subsistance as a result of a war being thrust upon them by maniacal dictators on the continent.

LETS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARILY RECREATE THOSE CONDITIONS .... but at least we wont have Bulgarians and Romanians in track suits hanging around in front of the corner market smoking.

Then he remembers Trump and pisses himself laughing.

Liters are smaller than gallons.  Why are they running out of small amounts of gas?

Also, bringing in the military to resolve relatively simple problems is very in right now.  Here in MA our Q-anon governor activated the national guard to drive school busses rather than (gasp!) pay a living wage to drivers.

Just merge with the Republic of Ireland and make the new UK capitol Dublin.  Problem solved!

/You are welcome

The blitz was eighty years ago, to have any actual adult memories of that time you need to be approaching your century.

But yeah, black markets, lawlessness and deprivation are all on their way to a real big comeback.

A lorry driver has explained why no one wants to drive HGVs in the UK

If Brexit hadn't happened, we'd still be exploiting eastern europeans willing to put up with shiate conditions.
Now though, drivers might actually get decent wages and conditions.
Corporatist Farkers hate the idea of businesses having to pay woekers properly; and would rather ses the UK back in the EU.

I love the way this theory has been latched onto by the gammons, as though brexit was some act of magnificent altruism, aimed at improving drivers' working conditions, and nothing to do with getting foreigners out of the country.

Its not going to help.  The Army doesn't actually have that many HGV drivers.  About 2000, according to some sources.

And many (around 40%) of the ones they do have are members of the TA rather than career army.  So most of them already drive an HGV as their day job so would not be available to drive a different one for the Army.

That's not going to put a dent in the current shortage.

SoupGuru: If only someone could have foreseen these consequences of Brexit before the vote!

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BREXIT!!!

I mean...industry leaders say there isn't a shortage. There is simply wide spread fuel shortages inconvenience because virtual slave labor from EU has moved on. There are plenty of workers on stand by:

1) The military could and probably will take over logistics. shiat-in-a-plastic-bag-for-Queen-and-counrty.

2) Doesn't the UK have prisouns? Who wouldn't want a free day relaxing in queue instead of a cell? Think of moneuy saved on salaruy!

3) Finally, as a last resort mind you, there is colonial expansion. There just has to be an African or Indian nation in need of a stiff upper lip. Britannia could offer the savages free training in exchange for British rule.

That's remarkably similar to this, also written by a trucker.

Both say that the UK's problem is that they didn't provide services and conditions like you'd find in France, for example.

Perhaps they should have addressed the basic problems with the job before telling the workers who would put up with those conditions to piss off.

I'm in europe (switzerland). That's why I have access to fuel.

Tony Danker, director general of the business body, said: "There are labour shortages across the economy, and of course, the government is right that in the long run, we can't simply turn to immigration to solve those problems. But in the short run, there is no solution, other than to look that way."

But...you simply can turn to immigration to solve those problems. A labor shortage means you need more laborers.

Unless your government is about to reveal their project to have women birth fully functional adults with vocation training, immigration is the one and only solution.

See now, in typical remoaner fashion, you're all completely ignoring the potential to solve this labour shortage via an enormous economic contraction.
