I was riding in an organized event and missed a turn. I got in some bonus miles, but it wasn't a race and only you and I know that I f*cked up. 100 mile ride stretched into 120. Uphill and against the wind. Both ways.

I ran a small town 5k a few years ago and was in the lead when I missed a turnaround point.  I ended up doing an extra quarter mile.  I still won because it was a small town and I was mostly running against little kids and casual 5kers.

FTFA: Race director Joe Moreno confirmed that the bicyclist went the wrong way but said the two runners also should have known not to follow him.

"At that intersection where that incident happened, the course was well-marked," Moreno said. "The signage is well-displayed. The volunteers are there. And the fourth element is those elite runners have a meeting the day before to get familiar with the course."

Nobody else at the intersection, if there was anybody else there, could have said not to follow the guy they were told to follow? If they went off in some random direction that the guy they were supposed to tail didn't go that'd be one thing but it wasn't. I have a difficult time pinning this one on the runners and I certainly can't get to assigning them half of the blame.

Cyclists not paying attention to their surroundings, never seen that one before.

One of my favorite posts was you whining about a college football thread not being in the Sports Tab without realizing that it really was in the Sports Tab. I have to thank you for the joy it brought me, I have to do it every time due to how grateful I am.

Red lights, surprisingly enough, as well as the other rules of the road, do apply to cyclists even if their belief is to the contrary.

Credit for helmets though, it kills me when I see a family of cyclists out on the trails where the kids have helmets on but the douchebag adults don't.

I've done that too, and it was pissing down with rain the whole day.
