Shostie: Why is this idiot so popular???

He was the most forgettable character on a pretty decent sitcom 25 years ago, I know that. He's carved out a niche. He used Trump fever to stretch a lot of miles out of a minimal amount of talent and got rich because people eat this slop right up.

UFC. All the people I know who watch his stuff are big blood sport fans.

Should just preface any antivaxxer name with "farking idiot"

2021-09-27 3:39:38 PM
The video, credited to a man named Samuel Rivera, features ominous narration excerpted from a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. "As soon as you give politicians power, any kind of power that didn't exist previously, if they can figure out a way to force you into carrying something that lets you enter businesses or lets you do this or lets businesses open, historically, they are not gonna give that power up," says Rogan, backed by sinister music. "They find new reasons to use it. We have to protect those freedoms at all cost, whether you agree with people's choices or not, because it is the foundation that this country was founded on: freedom."

-------

Sigh.

Again, real slow, for the people in the back:

- If your building doesn't have a rule saying you're not allowed to shiat in the elevator, but people realize that is a terrible thing to do and don't do it, that works, and your elevator is kept usable.

- If a few people try to shiat in the elevator, but your building has a rule saying "No shiatting in the elevator," and an elevator operator who will taze you and throw you out out on the street if you pop a squat, that might be a bit more expensive and less fun, but it will also work.

- However, if 30% of people are constantly shiatting in the elevator and you refuse to do anything about it because that would infringe on "freedom," then your elevator is vile and unusable.

And elevator shiatters don't actually kill people, unlike antivaxxers.

No one can legitimately claim this country was founded on the ideal of freedom. It was founded on the ideal of really rich people paying taxes to a government they weren't represented by and who wouldn't let them expand west into Indian land

The podcast host, who recently credited ivermectin with helping him beat COVID-19, will soon play a show at MSG requiring attendees be vaccinated.

So Joe Rogan is a self-described nazi, huh?

Good.  I was afraid he would die and his followers would get vaccinated.  Now they're all thinking they're too alpha to get sick and will be shoving horse deworming paste up their asses.  That's great.

If you're talking about the founding fathers, sure.  Most people who run countries are rich.  But the pilgrims who came over here were mostly poor.

I don't know that but not nearly the amount of non-vaccinated Nazis killed by COVID.

I've been asking the same question for years, well before he veered into his Covid nonsense. He's a dumb, stoned bro having the kind of dumb, stoned bro conversations that make you want to leave the room. And that's what his show has always been. Dumb, stoned bro nonsense.

Meanwhile in Israel, they have one of the most widely accepted and implemented vaccination programs.

I like that he thinks the government just imagined that they have the power to enforce vaccination mandates, despite over a century of precedent establishing that they have the power to enforce vaccination mandates.

Part of the popularity generated by his podcast is that he's interviewed a pretty wide variety of people.  If you like a particular comedian, and you find out that he was interviewed by Rogan, then you check out Rogan's podcast, and maybe you come back to it.  Ditto your favorite musician, or UFC fighter, or whoever.

Vaccine mandates, like the Holocaust, are things that historically happened.

And vaccine mandates, like the Holocaust, are things that right-wingers spread disinformation about.

So that's two things.

2021-09-27 3:52:24 PM
I mean, it's Joe Rogan.

Wouldn't him comparing something to the holocaust mean that he thinks it's a good thing?

// The crucifixion of Jesus was objectively a good thing -- if you're a Christian you think it was explicitly the will of god, which is what defines what good even is, and if you're a functional adult who realizes that Jesus was a fictional character you realize that it never actually happened so no one was harmed, and it produced a useful metaphor, so net positive there too.

Imagine some frat bros and gym rats who just got done smoking a lot of pot and who vaguely remember some of what they learned in high school. One of them knows a guy and heard a thing. Now imagine them doing their best to have a deep, intelligent conversation.

You know how even thinking about it makes you want to flee the room and scrub your brain with bleach?

Okay, his show is that, but for hours.

Seems he's going to be playing to an empty venue, as his followers won't have access, or a bunch of vaccinated hecklers.

I bet his supporters will be calling him a RINO before the week is out.

They didn't really come here by choice. Everyone over the pond was tired of their shiat and finally paid for the voyage to get rid of them.
