Uh, Cheers?

And not Friends? Ross was Ross, but Chandler and Joey were very close.

That movie was funnier than it had any right to be.

Well it's a broad spectrum from JD and Turk to Letterkenny

Sure. Right.

Damon Wayans Jr. took the job on New Girl, because he thought Happy Endings wouldn't get a second season.  When it did get renewed they cut him from New Girl and Winston replaced Coach.

However, Happy Endings is another show that does a good job with guy friendships (as well as guy/gal friendships)

He and Eliza Coupe (who played his wife) were the best parts of the show.

The star was OK, but also the worst part of the show.  Jess was best as no more than the reason the guys did stuff.

I tried watching "The New Girl". I made it through about 3 episodes. Every single character is awful, and I wanted to punch all of them in the face.

I would strenuously object. The League may not have been the "best" but I think it most accurately represented what male friendship is:

men choosing an arbitrary activity around which they can claim bragging rights and make sex jokes.

Well I didn't want to punch them in the face but I also didn't make it past 3 episodes.

Zooey is good in small does imo.

I haven't watched it in a few years, but when I was able to it was absolutely one of my favorites.  I still look wistfully at it, wishing I was still watching it :)

Same here.  My dad controlled the remote... And by the time I was liking something via Stockholm Syndrome, he'd moved on.

That other sitcom that the Wayans Jr. Left for after the pilot of New Girl was a better show.

Happy Endings.

/Also, Damon Jr. is a clone.

He's like someone test-marked a more audience-friendly Damon Wayans.

My wife loves the show.  She wanted to rewatch it with me but I only made it to the end of season 2.  It had sparks of a really good show, but they screwed it up at the end of the season.

Writers room:
"We just had a touching, heartfelt moment what should we do now?"
"Move to the next scene and let it simmer so people think our show might actually be good and multi-dimensional?"
"Wrong! Have Jess do something stupid to break the tension to remind everyone we're just slapstick baby!"
