Trump successfully framed COVID-19 as a blue-state, big-city problem.  To his cult, that means that only They get it.  Only They die from it. We will be fine.

From that point on, there was no appealing to the common good.  They are too high on their belief that the Chosen People will be spared this plague, because of their 'healthy lifestyle' -- whatever that means, most of them tend to smoke, drink, and overeat.  They sometimes argue that they're fine with getting it, because it will be 'harmless' and give them 'natural immunity,' but what they mean is they feel proof against it and don't expect to get it at all.

And besides, getting the vaccine or wearing the mask would mean stepping out of the bubble where COVID just doesn't exist, and we can't have that.

Our only hope at this point is that enough of them die of COVID to prove the error of this mindset.  They have to see it and suffer it themselves for it to be real.  And they can't just get it and recover, because they'll bounce back with more certitude than before.

Ignorance HAS to be painful before people will stop choosing to be ignorant.

First they made lying a sacrament, to prove their devotion to their party and their orange, weak god.  Then they added refusal to fight the pandemic to it.

I hope there's a whole lot of accuracy here.  I'm deep in red land here, but not much seems to be changing.  Still see plenty of Trump, punisher, blue lives matter, etc.

About the only that has changed is the ever increasing help wanted signs and places cutting back on hours for lack of staff.

Which per capita office, though?

Q: How does [testing] compare to a per capita basis? Obviously, the United States is much larger than a lot of these European countries. How does our testing compare per capita to those nations?

TRUMP: And, you know, when you say "per capita," there's many per capitas. It's, like, per capita relative to what? But you can look at just about any category, and we're really at the top, meaning positive on a per capita basis, too. They've done a great job.

Trump appeared to be making the point that whichever metric one used, number of tests or per capita testing rate, the U.S. ranked as the highest in the world (although the latter claim was false). But his proclaiming that "there's many per capitas" and questioning what "per capita relative to what" was cryptic beyond explanation.

Unless you are vaccinated but have serious underlying health issues, or are ineligible to be vaccinated, at this point if you die of COVID you have chosen to die of COVID. You have made the decision to die a horrible and preventable death. It's a choice. I don't understand why one would choose this death, which by all accounts is absolutely awful, but it's a choice.

My father was told to not get his 2nd vaccine because of complications with the 1st dose.  But we're hoping that because he had it once and then got 1 shot, he's about as safe as the rest of the family.  Fingers crossed and fark anti vaxxers straight to hell.

The lack of vaccination is the cause, which is directly attributable to efforts to politicize the vaccine.

In other words, there is clear causation, Mr. Pedant.

You gotta respect the COVID.  It could have just cut the top off the MAGA tree and the MAGAts would have cried a bit and moved on to Jeb Bush or Blanche.  But COVID has to get the numbers.  And in spite of a vaccine THAT IS FREE AND PLENTIFUL, COVID finds the bodies.

At first I thought to myself "since June 30th" is an odd date... was the date selected to show the desired distribution?

Then after playing around with a bit I realized that what this really isn't "deaths since June 30th", which would be weird, instead it is "deaths in the last 90 days", which is acceptable.

The only complaint I have then is that I think it takes about a week for deaths to be counted correctly, so I might recommend looking back 90 days starting a week prior.

2021-09-27 8:21:04 AM
What was the death rate per capita before? Rural white counties (that voted for trump 95%) are older anyways.

Look at per capita death rates in Africa. They're like 0.0 because when your average age is 19.7, people aren't dying from anything.

You need age adjusted death rates or death rate per capita by age cohort.

There are anti-vaxxers and COVID deniers everywhere but they're a small percentage of the population in the parts of the world which aren't red-state America. I'm in Australia and the only antivaxxers I know still mask up. And I don't know many. It's a much bigger proportion of the population in places like Alabama or rural Florida or rural Louisiana and although we have some weird places here too, vaccination rates aren't markedly different in them.

A person with the right data could very easily map out where the mortality rates are going to be the highest.

https://www.dailyexcelsior.com/scientists-identify-five-blood-molecules-linked-to-severe-covid-19-outcome-in-patients/

They have blood markers now that show who is going to have a severe case.

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-86747-5

I can arm-chair it fairly well with google. You can't tell me that actual scientists can't get more accurate data.

And with the limited data I have, I have called it fairly well so far, if I do say so myself.

I read the replies in Twitter, and I saw no evidence anyone there read all 12 tweets in the thread. Some takeaways:

Covid is now matched with cancer as the #1 killer of US children. Lots to unpack there.

US life expectancy is now down 2 years because of Covid. Lots to unpack there. Like, the age range of who dies from Covid in 2021, rather than in 2020. Like, how many people are dying this year becaue of the lag between releae from ICU and death. Like, how many people are dying because of going to a job (or school), being exposed, and dying; instead of 2020 when there were lockdown and quarantines.

Exactly. It's probably just a coincidence that the unvaxxed Trump dumbasses are dying off so much quicker than everyone else.

No cause for alarm, Trumpanzees, keep doing what you're doing.

I was reading yesterday that the number of deaths in Alabama has eclipsed the growth (births and immigrants) for the first time in history.

Maybe it's time to make vaccination a man-date?
