Right? Because warrior-cop revenge fantasies are cool IRL.

Seriously, this was an awful thing.  But Subby's sick fantasies would just make things worse.

Agree.
But she didn't do anything beyond get shot, either. Got out car, got shot, got back in.
Sucks, hope she does return to work.

Not the worst cop vengeance movie.  I'd go with "Turner and Hooch II:  Ghost Hooch's Revenge"

John McClane: Why'd you save my ass?
Zeus Carver: I didn't. I stopped a white cop from getting killed in Harlem. One white cop gets killed today, tomorrow we got a thousand white cops, all of 'em with itchy trigger fingers. Got it?

Hey, birthday parties at Chuck e Cheese can get cray-cray.  Maybe we DO need a montage of this vengeance, "meet the feebles,' style.  You didn't see how wild those kids were. She had a 1000 ticket score and that cheese-rat unplugged the machine after 50 tickets.

This is how the rise of the machines starts. Animatronics at CEC.  At least she tried to stop it.

Honestly don't understand your comment.

Then again, I don't understand the mindset of people who fall over themselves to slob knob on anyone in uniform, so that may be why I'm missing your point.

If your issue with cops is how they issue summary justice to minorities, and yet you joined this thread to say the perpetrators of this cop shooting deserve summary justice, you're just a dickwad jackass.

Also America, where appalling levels of ignorance and poor education mean we keep using the word "hero" instead of "victim".

OK, no cops in your neighborhood and they can patrol mine instead. Let's see who gets their shiat stolen and/or beat up for your wallet first.

I am related to or have been friends with quite a few cops. Good people, never had a single complaint raised against them. My uncle reported incidents he saw during Burges' reign to internal affairs but that went nowhere. His testimony was eventually used in some of the civil suits.

The ACAB crowd annoys the hell out of me. Not every cop is a sadistic asshole who gets off on beating the crap out of people, intimidating minorities and taking bribes. Most of them become cops because they want to protect people and keep folks safe.

I only have one question:  who's John Wick?

2021-09-27 11:18:38 AM
I see we can use Old/HTML buttons. I remember those. When I was just new to workforce you could get a job putting the coding into documents in Mitel.

Remember Mitel? Fortran? punch-cards? hakers making reel to reel drives walk across computer rooms and squashing computer nerds?

How about Blackberries? Remember those? They still have much better security than iPhones.

Obsolete is good. Although obscurity is not security, as we used to say. Otherwise Apple would have been more secure than PC when they had about 3% of the market.

Cops don't stop crime, they respond to it. if they can't find someone to shoot, they pull out a notepad and do nothing, although they might find time to accuse my friends of lying about their own rapes or arresting them on the whim of a sergeant who doesn't like his family.

If you want em, take them all. You can have all the tickets and the citations and the confrontational meatheads you can shake a stick at coontil they shoot you and say they thought it was gun)

As a middle-aged white male with a small-town Republican/Baptist upbringing, living in a majority-white, low-crime, upmarket suburb, I am pretty sure some cops are not bastards.

As a slightly-educated, well-traveled husband of an African immigrant and father of biracial kids, I am pretty sure some other cops are bastards.

Whether cops are bastards toward someone seems to depend largely on how well they know them... and first impressions go a long way.  You know, actually, cops don't sound so different from non-cops in that regard.

My wife's spent her career getting people to work together.  Most recently, she's been involved with community-access TV for a while, and also used to work at our town hall.  She was the only black person working there when George Floyd and all that went down, so she wound up being in a position to bring people together - partly by hosting discussion panels about racial issues on TV, but mostly behind-the-scenes, giving crisis-response advice to town government.  So the local PD leadership, detectives, resource officers... all came to know and like her.

She recently decided to run for a district office, and it breaks some people's brains that there is a black immigrant woman, standing for all the progressive issues they'd expect (and a few they hadn't thought of)... who the cops are all fans of.

This cop, in Baltimore, was shot, almost killed in a robbery. At the trauma center he reported he was 10-8 ("in service").

// Unfortunately he remains paralyzed.
