Yup. Israelis indeed hate Starbucks. It failed here because there are coffee shops on every corner with better, cheaper coffee.

Astonished it's not Subway. From their Gym Mat/My Pillow Stuffing bread, to their translucent meat, to every location being a truck stop even when it's not in a truck stop, it is truly the "Ehh, I guess if that's all they have" of food.

2021-09-27 6:41:03 AM
Huh. I like KFC. I mean I can't remember the last time I ate there but it doesn't gross me out like a McDonald's hamburger.

I agree that Subway sucks but again, it doesn't gross me out, it's just disappointing. Publix makes the best subs IMO.

Nobody eats Papa Johns and their "pizza".

There was a Checkers that opened up in my city about fifteen years ago. They spent god knows how much on the land, building the storefront, advertising...had to be at least a million down before the thing even opened.  Six months after it opened the atmosphere had degenerated to what I would call "inner-city gas station Subway".

It closed a couple of months later and hasn't reopened since.

what's a restaurant?

2021-09-27 8:45:51 AM
Haven't been in a KFC since it was Kentucky Fried Chicken. IIRC 1991. Pity though, it used to have good food. Now it smells like Pioneer Chicken, a place that I have never managed to order from, because when I walk in I lose all desire to eat.

I'm not sure that I can decide on the worst, but most of the ones mentioned above are on my Never Again list:  Subway, KFC, and Papa John's.  Also, Burger King.  It's as if BK has just stopped trying.

Huh.
They are all American fast food places.

KFC chicken and cole slaw is fine. I don't go there because the drive up line is always waaaay to long, so I'm beginning to doubt that everyone hates them.

I didn't expect domino's, but I'm not really surprised.

Ordering delivery from them can be hell. And after waiting for a pizza that never shows up an hour later, making you call them again to ask "wtf" then wait another 45 minutes for another driver to deliver said pizza. To then have your landlord call you the next morning about a pizza with your name on it that was delivered to a different apartment building...

Yeah I don't order domino's anymore.

I ?think? we also hate Papa Johns because similar reasons to Chick-fil-a? but other than that there's no fast food I can honestly describe as truly disliking (Narrator: ohhhhh, just give him a minute.) - and will I eat e.g. Sbarro or Subway, in a pinch? yeah, probably.

I mean, I generally wouldn't patronize anywhere that doesn't serve at least basic fish or seafood or eggs or the now-trendy plant-based-nonsenseries - modulo 5guys, who serve one of the best darned grilled-cheeses around (and although it's been many many years, I do recall In-n-Out's cheese sanguich being half-decent.)

Jack in the Box is the worst, for the mere fact that you can't tell the difference between its white cheese slices and its mayonnaise.

I've learned that if you order Domino's for pick up, it's fine. They make the pizza lightning fast, and then it sits around for an hour waiting to be delivered. They just don't have enough delivery drivers to get it to the customer while it's still warm.

I'm trying to remember the last 'good' KFC I went to. The last few times I went the dipshiats behind the counter managed to make it both dry af and greazy as hell. Like, soaked through the box on a 3 minute trip back home.

Scrubway can still get farked harder though.

The second to last time I was in a KFC, it was absolutely filthy. I went back again months later to pick up dinner for the family, and they had run out of potato wedges. That was the last time. You just can't trust a fast food place that runs out of fries.

that, I well understand. in a previous life, our office was in Times Sq., where H-Mart and my beloved woorijip abounded. but? in our building's elevator lobby? an Afghani/Pakistani hotdish counter. pick-2 or pick-3 (different every day, but generally: a paneer curry, some form of greens, and dal of lentils or chickpeas) and included rice & naan.

bad weather outside, too busy / not enough time, too lazy? - good reasons all. plus their food was farking delicioso bar none (modulo too much oil and too much salt. but anyone who's had an Auntie cook for them has likely experienced this particular overton-window of cookery.)

super-inexpensive and since all of it was already prepared the night before you couldn't ask for a quicker "fast food"

/wow my brain just went to a place where I could literally smell hing and cumin

well that both sucks and blows. it's been months or more since we visited the only store near us, so I have no recent opinions/experience. the wife and I always each get only the grilled cheese (not sure why, she does eat beef) so I can't speak to the burgers. I know half of foodtab has a hate-on for their fries, which was always one thing I loved about them. eh, we'll likely visit there before the year is out.

pritty-shure the one close to us highly discouraged peanut shells. still served mounds of free peanuts, but the floor was always spotless, so, surprisingly/unsurprisingly, people did not engage in the practice.

If by worst you mean "restaurant I have had the worst experience of food poisoning", that honor belongs to Chipotle.

I had what my doctor called a "full body immune response" where everything muscle and nerve in my body was screaming bloody murder.

And they serve lukewarm rice under inconsistently portioned vaguely "mexican" seasoned vegetables and meat. I'd rather eat at an old country buffet. And I hate those.

Funny thing as here in Deutschland, most of the hated ones are here. In Leipzig we have KFC, Subway, McDs, Burger King, and Pizza Hut. Two German owned pizza delivery places were bought out recently by Dominos and Papa Johns. Dominos sux but I do remember it being better back in the States. The Papa Johns actually tastes better than what is being passed as pizza back in Texas. Now the only reason I eat KFC is that ze Germans don't do fried chicken so beggars can't be choosers. They got a killer Tuesday deal....24 hot wings for 10 euros. They aren't the worst I have had.

Something similar just happened to me two weeks ago. Order a pizza for delivery. Wait an hour. No pizza. Call. Get locked into the automated system saying, "your pizza has been delivered," no it wasn't. Drive to the store. Pizza is sitting on the shelf. The manager tried to give it to me. No apology. No offer of a refund. Nothing. Refuse the pizza. File formal complaint with Domino's Corporate because it's a goddamned training center. Will.never.order.again.

They were inconsistent as all hell in the way they made the pizza to begin with and I always put up with it because it's cheap. They also never followed a single instruction.

In 2011 at one point, if you donated blood, you got a coupon for a free medium 1-topping pizza from them.  It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible.  That was long enough ago that things may have changed.  ISTR that back in the 1990s, Subway was reasonably OK.  I don't care all that much, because there's a Culver's, a Mika's Greek, a Venezia's pizza, and a Zzeek's pizza in walking distance.  (All chains, but they take quality seriously at Culver's and Venezia's, it's difficult to screw up a gyro, and Zzeek's only has 3 locations.)

about 15 or 18 years ago someone opened a Papa Johns in Frisco, and I got delivery a few times.  I thought it was really good and tried to tip heavily because it's a long drive and fuel isn't cheap.  Anyway, they closed after about 6 or 8 months and I'm not sure why.

Also, I want to say that our Domino's is pretty great although they won't deliver here.  I can always get a 3 topping large for carry out for $7,99.  I wish they'd offer a similar deal on the specialty pizzas though, because I like more toppings.  They started charging for grated parm and red pepper packets recently though.  That's horrible.

According to their analysis, McDonald's, Subway, Starbucks, and Wendy's were all found to be the most hated fast-food chain in several countries.

Once again I have to ask, why does Starbucks always make these fast food lists? Maybe it's a regional thing, but I've never been in one that offers more than snack type food like brownies, muffins, or prepackaged cold sandwiches.

Anyway, it seems to me that a lot of complaints around fast food places are along the lines of "The last time I ate there, (add in your fast food horror story here)."  I don't think there's a fast food place that I haven't had a bad experience at least once or twice, if I stopped eating there because of that I would have run out of places to eat years ago.
