This is where I live and work. These idiots have even talked about protesting armed outside of the schools. They're farking nuts.

Meanwhile, we're running out of space to put dead people in a four county radius

Having lived in Knox county while I went to UT, I'm sorry our state is braindead.

Though in all fairness I live in Moore county, where we aren't doing anything to even acknowledge Covid exists.

Went to elementary, junior high, and high school in Sullivan County (Kingsport). Can attest: those people would be unvaccinated and anti-mask.

/could we maybe start a little Eastern-TN Fark sub-group or something?

I'm not sure exactly how, but it sounds like there might be an opportunity here to solve two problems at once.

Maybe they should invoke eminent domain and start storing them in the front yards of the most staunch anti-maskers.

Just because you could just pile up all the dead covid bodies in America in one big pile technically much smaller than Tennessee using catapults doesn't mean it's legal, practical, or desirable.

I know TN is very gun friendly but don't you have laws against that? Even in super gun friendly states like FL you can't be within so many feet of a school with a firearm unless you're driving by and the gun is in your car.

I have you farkied as a white supremacist. Why do you still comment here? Why are you still allowed to post?

Before anyone jumps on me - this person was the one doubting the word of hardinparamdic. I know hospital systems out West (Idaho esp.) have been declaring crisis of care standards (i.e. Death Panels) for weeks now, while Tennessee has been Red on the CDC COVID map without a peep. Something is happening there, and people like wantingout are perpetuating a coverup.

"We will be using this time to work with our administration and staff, who will report to work as normal, to make sure our schools are ready for students on Tuesday."

They are closing for one day to get procedures in order. Im missing the outrage part.

Even here in NZ, when we suddenly go from one alert level to another (alert level 3 with remote learning, to alert level 2,.back in class learning, but with precautions etc) they usually give the schools a full extra day to implement procedures, tell staff what is expected and what to do in what situation, move desks to appropriate separation distances, what limits in gathering sizes to enforce, etc.

I mean, they are probably doing something ridiculous given that it is Tennessee, but I dont see the outrage part here.

Good news Tennessee, SCOTUS already ruled in your favor to self-govern. But needing a day to figure out how to have students wear masks seems a bit might affect any future decisions.

It's a federal law, gun free school zone act of 1990 (amended in 1995). I'd love to see these idiots arrested for federal felonies and lose their precious 2nd amendment rights all because they think it's tyranny to wear a freaking mask.

We literally have disaster medical response teams running in five hospitals in the region, including our local trauma center, with help from the national guard. DMORT has brought in trailers to Blount and Sweetwater, and Sevierville is full.

Knox regional forensics is using their decomp room and disaster trailer at the moment.

But please tell me how it's not true.

It's a timeout to prevent a mass shooting over this. They don't need a day to prepare. I'm a teacher. If our district suddenly implemented a mask mandate it is no problem. Emails to parents. Masks available in the office for kids.

Of course, here in Utah mask mandates are a thing of the past so death by Covid rather than gunfire.

How much would a crisis corpse even cost? Can you just rent them or do you have to buy them outright?

Eh, they let the teachers have one day to gather at work and discuss the rules before letting the kids back, here. It's more for training staff.

I have lived in Utah, just not since becoming a parent.

I honestly don't think so. There may be some charities collecting money to pay for medical bills and things of that nature, But our Regions main problems stem from too few nurses and too little pay to recruit them to this area, and always have. This has just made things so much more overwhelmed than they usually are.

Thankfully we're not as bad as Idaho, yet, but the death rate is staying the same despite cases dropping.

Get vaccinated, wear masks when around others, avoid large gatherings, and wash your hands regularly.

That's what makes this so pathetic.  My kids couldn't care less.  I don't know of any other kids that are troubled by it.  So why do we have an endless supply of "adults" that just can't deal with it?

These protesting parents are going to have an interesting time raising their children now that they've lost all credibility in their eyes.

If it weren't for those pesky child labor laws, these Tennessee children would be at work building ventilators so their parents could party more, and breathe better.

I have to remind my kid almost every day that he can take his mask off when he gets in the car. He completely forgets he's wearing it.

Oddly enough, covid cases at school are much lower than in the surrounding community. I'm sure the mask mandate isn't related though.

The outrage for these jelloheads is that the school districts would even acknowledge COVID-19 exists, and that they won't just give the children horse paste to go with their school lunches.
