I don't know why they do these theatrics when they always cave.  Whatever you think of Pelosi, she knows how to slap them into line.

Now to see if Schumer can do the same...

There are two truisms in American Politics:

1) You will *NEVER* lose ground by appealing to the worst angels of human nature.
2) If you lack any other punching bag, the left-wing of the Democratic Party will do in a pinch.

Pelosi knows how to get shiat passed in her chamber.

Schumer needs to start talking to Manchin about his committees and how easily they can be taken away.

Fark all that!

Where's Joe Manchin, I got two horrifying words for him: coal ban.

Manchin will not be able to keep his job if he caves to the leftist   and he knows this.  Sinema would only be able to show her face in Flag and Tucson if she caves.

Sinema ran on being a progressive, and then promptly abandoned that entirely, so she's farked anyway. Manchin is gonna be 78 by the time he's up for reelection in '24, and has already pissed a lot of people off by publicly shooting down shiat his base supports and just generally being a cock.

They're both farked, electorally, but they don't care because they've both also received huge checks from right-wing "lobbyists" to obstruct everything.

Headline: Moderate house Dems support reconciliation package

Article: Two of the nine House centrists who demanded Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) bring the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill to the floor by Monday are now publicly promising to vote for the separate $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation package

It's a start?

My fear is Sinema will make a sudden flurry of leftward moves then run against Biden in 2024 and suckers will fall for it.

Kremlin-linked money ghouls will pump her full of cash and spam her onto cable news.

That's why all the conservative Democrats in here are all "yeah, Manchin is stopping the $3.5T bill...but AOC is stopping the $1.5T corporate handout companion bill. why aren't you complaining at her? HUH? That's like 70% of what you asked for!

You know why you want to be on committees? To attract campaign donations and to get visibility with voters, both of which help you get reelected. So if you take Manchin's committee assignments away, you make his reelection tougher. Does that sound like a wise strategy when Democrats are clinging to a majority by their last fingernail?

If facts had any bearing on the irrational hatred a certain group of Farkers have for the more left-leaning part of the electorate they wouldn't incessantly try to turn every thread into an excuse to biatch about Sanders and/or those who are aligned with him politically.

You know, like that one asshole did already.

I honestly think the house centrists are willing to play ball. Those 2 PoS in the Senate may tank this whole thing though.

I doubt it. They wouldn't be pushing so hard to split the bills if they weren't planning to turn around and refuse to pass reconciliation without reducing it to $500 million or some other BS. They're centrists after all - functionally, no different than Republicans when it comes to real change for the middle class.

I wish the media would stop using the word 'moderate' to describe these people.  They're conservatives.  They occupy the space that the Republican party abandoned.  They're no different politically than Rmoney or Cheney, except for the letter after their name.

They're house members. They are essentially betting their reelection based on the combination of Biden's 2022 popularity and whether they can bring resources to their district. Biden's popularity (outside of covid and dumb luck on the economy) rides on whether he can get stuff done with bonus points for bipartisanship. Both bills are popular and fulfil the resources side. They'd rather have half a loaf than none, hence the split bills but they are desperate for something and if that means spending more than their personal preference they'll do it.

Manchin/Sinema aren't up for reelection till 2024, so they're playing a different game and frankly the egos of Senators are larger than they should be.

The only market is Europe and Russian natural gas is going to take the lead there.

We need to be shifting those employees and that workforce to renewables. Hard. Add in solar farms and wind farms in the 3.5T for WV and be done with it.

From the article:

They're actually just saying "we promise to vote for it later after we pass the other thing. But we have to pass the other thing first."

Given they're almost by definition two people you should t believe are operating in good faith, I'd say they're full of shiat and are going to screw us all later.

Manchin and Sinema have all the power here.  The 50th vote out of 100 always has all the power.  Nothing can change that. Not even a constitutional amendment.

But I wish Manchin and Sinema would actually act like they're the ones in charge, and propose what they actually want to pass.
