Peanut Butter flavored whiskey just makes me...bleeeegh!! I mean, I love peanut butter, and I love LOVE me some whiskey. But together??? I just don't know.

For those interested, I just went and bought a bottle of this (Glenallachie).  It's $67.99 (Specs in Houston).  Granted it is not Batch #4.  All I could find is Batch #2.

I don't drink whiskey much, but the best gin I've ever had is from Freeland Spirits in Portland, OR.  Which is funny because they set the company up to make bourbon, but started making gin to provide cash flow while the bourbon ages.

Talked to a guy last weekend who raved about Bird Dog, but he was talking about the chocolate one. It's not an expensive whiskey, if I recall. Gonna have to try one of them. I'd pick chocolate over peanut butter, though.

Mix it with a chocolate liqueur and you've got a damn tasty dessert.

Seriously, and I know I'm in the minority here, but personally I prefer an Islay single malt like Caol Ila or Bunnahabhain. For non-Islay Talisker is my go to.

One of the worst things I've had in my mouth, and that's saying a lot.  I'd rather have Malört.

Stop putting an 'e' whisky or we'll put a G'damn 'u' in it. That's strictly for the Irish.

I had a peanut butter Canadian whiskey that was really good. Small distiller.

Expected that to happen a bit earlier, but then this happened:

Currently in love with St George Spirits Baller whiskey.

Californian Japanese Scotch.

In a highball using Oregon Mexican mineral water.

I'm no longer sure what I'm drinking but it's amazing.

Maybe there's a PB&J combination. Grape 99 or even a strawberry vodka.

Never had bacon-infused scotch?  I spit it out in a planter and the plant died. It was plastic.

So I tried the Glenallachie this evening (couple of glasses with a friend).  Again, this is Batch #2 and not Batch #4 (see upthread).  It's certainly a good "bang for your buck" scotch - wood and caramel and doesn't overwhelm...great nose and..."warm" I guess is the word.  It is cask strength so go easy on the first sip unless you have a swig of water first (that's what I do at least).

I've been running into well balanced cast strength scotches lately.  Aberlour - A'bunadh comes to mind...

Ardbeg 10 for me. Especially in cold weather months.

Peat-bombs are the distilled equivalent of double IPAs. Both are acquired niche tastes that have an undeserved ubiquity due to Emperor's new clothes mystique.

I get what you are saying and truth be told I won't have more than a couple of measures of Islay malt at one time. Currently I have a bottle of Caol Ila and Talisker Storm on the go. The Talisker will be finished way before the other, but I enjoy them both.

Nothing wrong with enjoying what you enjoy. The Sages tell us "in matters of pleasant taste and smell even God and the Torah are silent." It's the way that marketing causes one flavor profile to push out most others through induced snobbishness that is so irritating. Nothing on you. Lots on the horrible way alcohol is sold and the unpleasant underlying prejudices that it plays on.

Not a whisk(e)y person generally, but I have an Islay, bourbon, rye, and two Irishes (who knew that the Pogues would hire a really good distiller?!) in the liquor cabinet. None of the base profiles is inherently better, and which one I like depends on who knows? Phase of the moon? Ground loops?

He was a very good boy
After I came home one night after getting hammered, after I sat on the stairs and threw it all up, he happily cleaned it up for me.
He was not a very smart boy
but he was a very good boy.

More things for the bourbon bros to complain about not being able to find.  Except the Bird Dog, which they pretend is their wife's bottle.
