Here in PA the Republicans are demanding everyone's info, including Social Security Number and a full voting record (including the method of voting used), and in some counties they already have "Voter Integrity Squads" going door-to-door to "confirm" people's votes.

And this week they're going to push a law that would allow anyone to challenge any person's voter status, and put the onus on the voter to prove they're legit -- and it's sweeping enough to basically let one MAGA peckerwood roll coal into center city Philly and point to the line and say "I challenge the status of everyone here."

tl;dr: This isn't the GOP's only plan to cheat.

Any of those kotherfucjers knocking on my door better plan on a "face full of mace", as we like to call it here in Westmoreland County.

My local House Rep was a troubled goddamn piss poor D student at my high school alma mater, previous employment as a stunt man. I'm not sure he can spell cat even if I spot him the K-A. Of course, (R) because that's how D student former stunt men think, I guess. Our former Rep., a (D) who is the son of the (D) who was our Rep for decades, always brought home a fair share from the State coffers, no more, no less. Now, we grovel for pennies for the volunteer firemen. I get it, John Murtha (D) was a criminal thief (caught on camera - Abscam) and PA politics owns the billions in debt for the turnpike and other things abused and it will not change until the people of the Pennsyl-Tucky portion of the state can read English. And the (R)'s are wasting millions on horse manure audit threats and commercials on Fox and proposed legislation to make belonging to any other political party as illegal as abortion in Tejas. Of course, I exaggerate slightly but you get the picture.

I'm sending Lt Gov Fetterman everything save the deed for my house. Mainly because I want pot legal across the board. It costs a small fortune to afford the doctor visit (all fake) to get the card (annual fee) to get into the store (horrible people owners) where the "medicine" is barely above average quality for $25/gram. Plus, if you are disabled, you can designate a "representative" for which you have to buy another card (annual fee) and there is paperwork out the patoot. Disabled people can surely afford that? Hell, I'm gainfully employed and I can't afford it. My neighbor pays thru the nose for the vape to help with his pain issues which works better than the opioids he was being prescribed. Costs MUCH more that the Vicodin but a lot safer and he felt he was starting to crave the buzz of the opioid. And he has a real fear of that. And he's the best neighbor who only deserves to live out his life pain free. Or mostly pain free.

One of the few good friends I have left is a big investor in the MM business here and he is fried up pissed off at how incredibly expensive, legally overregulated  and crappy the system is here. His level supplies product (which he knows is kind of crappy) to stores. Prolly every congress critter here has both hands in the envelope. His ROI is laughable for the BS he has to put up with.

Why would any political leader want the US return to those days when America's unequal treatment of its Black citizens made it look like hypocrites on the world stage -- especially at a time when the country is engaged in a geopolitical struggle with autocratic countries like Russia and China that disdain democracy? So that's the argument? They'll be embarrassed by Chinese and/or Russian "whataboutism"?Good luck getting people with no shame to feel ashamed.

The suppression efforts are aimed at making in person voting the only realistic option.

Then they close the polls in urban areas causing mile long lines while the country folk roll right though their local station.

What state are you in? Is CBD legal there? If you have CBD stores, ask them if they stock Delta 8 flower or tincture.

Delta 8 is the 8-bond version of THC (Delta 9). it is therefore in a gray area. My local CBD store stocks Delta 8 flower, tincture, and vapes. The flower is Cherry Pie, Wedding Cake, Exotic OG, Harambe, and Master Cookies OG. 1 gram sample is $10; an eighth is $25. A quarter is $40. Delta 8 is not as strong as Delta 9, but mellower and does not have the more obvious anxiety and paranoia effects.

"...when lawmakers erect additional hoops for Black or brown voters to jump through, they are also making it harder for poor and middle-class White voters to be heard. That's because those *some poorWhite voters also get less access to the political system and are less likely to contribute to political campaigns *face many of the same obstacles as poor black people."

The obstacle is poverty -- between working two jobs, 60-80 hours/week, many people don't have the time and resources - or inclination - to jump through all the hoops related to getting registered and voting.

The GOP operates on the out-dated notion that poverty isn't an issue for their voters.

...which is why it's near impossible to dump the kooks until they've done as much damage as they're likely to.

Boebert, Cawthorne, Greene, Hawley.......three of these might have gone too far and be too toxic for their own party to willingly stand up for them.  The fourth was until he realized that the job of President wasn't totally out of reach.

The other day when I was on a subway train stopped at a station to let people on, a man got on then shouted to no one in particular, "Well, I guess we need to get rid of the Democratic party." This was on an MBTA train, in Boston, MA. A state bluer than California. These GOP people are idiots.

It always starts out that he is trying to catch the Roadrunner because he is hungry.  But his plans get more and more absurd and dangerous as time goes on.  Right up to where, if his plan were to succeed, there would be no roadrunner left to eat.

The irony that no one ever seems to realize is that Wile E never suffers any permanent damage or death himself.  So how could anyone expect these plans to affect the Roadrunner any differently?

This is why it's best to just turn your brain off and enjoy the show.

No. Voter suppression will anger whites. Supressing the white vote will build their support for the GOP. The Dems purport to defend civil rights, so losing the vote will appear to be their failure, or their conspiracy.

The article is far too optimistic about how much Americans understand core civics and government. The majority of Americans do not graduate high school. And not high school, but American common core No Child Left Behind high school with Texas textbooks that don't contain much information. Voter suppression looks very different to a population like that, than it does to an audience old enough to use Wile E Coyote references.

Not me. Also, judging from a Twitter discussion I read a while ago, Black people aren't likely to open the door for any white stranger who shows up knocking unannounced, especially if it's a segregated neighborhood where white people don't usually go. Chances are slim the encounter's going to be for the benefit of the answerer.

Same discussion, apparently Black people and white people knock on doors differently and it's obvious who's out there without even looking. I'm not sure exactly why, since as a white guy my well being has never depended on knowing whether it's a white person at the door so I've never paid attention, but I'll take that one on faith.
