One of my shirttail relations was a superfan of that show back when it was in production and got to visit the set and meet the cast. I wonder if they still have the photo album from that visit that was the centerpiece of basically their own personal shrine to that show?

I did watch that show as a kid, but I don't remember anyone's name.

I remember one episode, that sticks out in my mind for some reason.  The two paramedics were called out.  'Help!  Help!  My little girl got her toe stuck in the bathtub faucet!'  Well... the little girl was probably in her early 20's, and she was wearing only soap suds.  The paramedics felt very awkward about the whole thing.

Flashback, I think I remember that episode now that you mention it. The one that really sticks in my mind is where someone ate a bunch of unrisen bread dough. The medics arrive and their was a pefectly loaf shaped mound rising from their stomach. Still kinda makes me laugh.

I always remembered the one where they kept having to rescue the same guy over and over, and allhe was trying to do was lose some weight in various ways but kept ending up in bad situations

I remember they still had a massive wall map of LA they had to consult before running to an emergency.  A literal map on the wall.  Also, one episode (I think the same episode) where they had a new radio, I think, to test on an ambulance with a long stiff antenna that snaps off when they drive under a tree limb. The radio was the size of a fully loaded roof rack.

Emergency was a great show then and a good view of 1970's tech now. I loved that show.

And it's nice seeing paramedics just being good guys. Not a lot of drama.

I had this board game.. briefly.  I'm not sure why it was brief, but I think I only got to play it a couple of times.

Granted, I was under the recommended age at the time.

The world changed for the worst when "Emergency!" went off the air.

Back than everything was great. I still remember those fun times of nightly news reports of how our boys were doing in Vietnam.
Nixon had just been re-elected back when the show started. He seemed to be a good fella.
We had the first season of "Emergency!" and The 1972 Olympics to look forward to watching.
Yep, what a great time to be alive.

The people on Emergency, whether EMT, firefighter, doctor, nurse, were all good people.  The nurse wasn't banging the doctor.  No one was trying to get another firefighter fired.  No one resented the others promotion.  No one was on drugs, or selling stolen fire equipment on the collector market.  They all got along.  Emergency and Adam 12 did this without that vibe of "everyone has a stick up their ass" like Dragnet did.

In a way, Emergency was like Star Trek.  Competent people who enjoy doing their work for the betterment of all.   It's a shame that attitude is now considered socialism in this waste of a country.

Mrs. Guilty likes to have the TV on when she works from home, and while we were sharing the same bedroom/office in our old house the one channel we agreed on (CoziTV, one of those "classic TV" cable channels) has had Emergency! on its weekday lineup since the pandemic began. We've lapped the whole series run eight or nine times at this point.

Oh, an Emergency! thread!!!!

/ CSB: When I worked in airline ops and something would go wrong, we had sound bits of the alarms queued up on one of the computers for sound effects.  All of them.  Something minor like ATC to a destination we really didn't serve too much got the "Squad 51" alarm.  Something bigger like an aircraft going out of service for maintenance got the "Station 51" alarm.  Something horrible like a thunderstorm shutting down all the routes and grounding everything, it was time to get Battalion 19 involved.

//CSB: I still cannot accept Roy DeSoto as the evil Brad Wesley in Roadhouse.  Saddens my soul.

///CSB: I had an Emergency! siren on my bike but it was really loud.  My mother put cheesecloth in it to mute the sound and I was forced to rush to neighborhood rescues with a muffled siren.

CSB////: Never got to 4 before.

I know people don't use dictionaries anymore because "fark you, I do what I want" but;
he·ro/ˈhirō/ nounnoun: hero; plural noun: heroes1. a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.

He shows up on other shows within that production company 'family' especially Dragnet and Adam-12, usually in smaller parts, like when they needed a petty crook.  Spot him and Bobby Troup every once in awhile.  Nondescript, yet recognizable.  It's still on everyday - I like to see what comic subplot the episode has.  You know, like the department-wide barbershop quartet contest or whatever.

Just the thought of an Emergency! thread has turned me back into a 7 year old lighting sticks on fire and putting them out with my Tonka Fire Engine.  I'm completely discombobulated at the moment and unable to present rational thoughts.  Too bad Chet had to pay the price for this.

He must have gotten tired of just getting bit parts and quit the biz because his last TV job was an uncredited one-off in an A-Team episode from 1984.

I don't know about Keven Tighe (DeSoto) but Randolph Mantooth (Gage) traveled the country to various fundraisers and awareness events for years after the show ended.
