So even if the tilting and sinking magically stops *right* now, they're still going to have to re-plumb every drain on one side of the tower at minimum. The increased tilt on the other side would warrant attention as well, or at least throw a monkey wrench into standard calculations for proper drainage.

What? Something wasn't engineered correctly at the millennial tower? They spent thousands of hours Googling the best possible designs!

Subby I'm curious as to how you managed to force a lower case start to headline. Fark usually automatically capitalizes first letter?

Wait, there's still people living there?

revrendjim: I was told that people in San Francisco just poop on the street..

The entire city - from the Transamerica Building to the Golden Gate Bridge - is completely buried under about a hundred feet of shiat.  This has been done by the homeless, who have entirely taken over the city and are murdering anyone who isn't homeless or who complains in any way about the smell.

I heard it on the OANN so it has to be true.  It HAS to be.

I would not want to live in such a crappy building.

Sewage drains below the level of the sewer in the street into a tank, and then is macerated and ejected into the street sewer by a grinder pump.

Anyway, it's funny - I was thinking about this the other day wondering what direction it was leaning vs the plumbing.

18" of tilt will take all of the slope out of a pipe run 75' or less.  Under 75' of run you could put a negative slope on the piping.

"The building's tilt - now about 22 inches to the west due to the northwest corner sinking about 18 inches"

I'm no engineer, but that shiat being that much off can't be good on a damn skyscraper.

Snort: It's going to Fall over

It has continued for what... a decade? I don't think anyone can contradict you.

When is someone going to come forward and say, "Hey everybody! Let's get his handled so it does not fall over!"

Maybe never. Maybe never.

If I may bring up Fukushima Daiichi. After the fact, people wanted to point fingers and claim that some evil people did this or that. Nah. What happened is that there was always something else going on. Always some more studying that needed to be done. Some other guy who deserved the CEO's time. There was always some other priority. And eventually, something that should have been done was not done, and the time line got long enough that some low probability event occurred.

When San Francisco has its next big quake, oh... let's say a sustained 7.5 for about three minutes, a lot of buildings are going to come down. If the Millenium Tower has dampers, they will eventually become useless if they are not already.

There will never be a panic. It will just happen. And everyone will rush to find the evil person. As if evil explains it. This building is a ticking time bomb. People are passing it around like a hot potato.

Thinking about this more, there could be a double issue.

If sewage drains to the middle, half the building is trying to drain uphill and the other half of the building the toilets are going to be too steep and bypassing sewer gas at the vents.

You're only allowed a 1D fall for "unvented" fixtures like toilets, or you'll get a siphon going on.

So if I want to submit a headline with a leading lower case word in the headline I need to work in the word "shiat" to kick things off.

Challenge accepted.

The first thing I read on the internets today is about a poop siphon.  A perfect end to a perfect week.

and at this point it's too much fun watching people trip over the filter to change it.

Take it down. Make the banks and insurance companies give back the owners most of their money. Make the developer pay for as much as possible.  If they go under, good, they shouldnt be building anything over 4 floors. It's going to fall over. Eventually.
