Walking around the underground mall between Luxor and Mandalay Bay with a yard of frozen margarita got old in a hurry for me. Your mileage may vary.

/next time I guess I should get the foam cowboy hat
//and the Turd Ferguson bolo tie too

Over the years, frozen margaritas have developed a bad rap, particularly within serious mixology circles. Marc explains, "Frozen drinks have a way of masking flavors, so they're easier to 'cheat' on if a restaurant or bar is looking to cut corners. That said, a frozen margarita made with fresh, quality ingredients can be really good-and of course even more outstanding on a patio on a balmy afternoon."

Look, I enjoy the craft cocktails and respect the process of making them but I'll take a quality frozen marg over a mixologist's fancy new $16 creation any day of the week.

This. You know what to expect from a frozen margarita. It's the cocktail version of a lager

If I want a frozen drink I'll stick with a daiquiri.  I prefer my margaritas on the rocks.

I mean, is that really an idea from God?  I think that idea is obvious enough that it could probably come from a six-year-old that you've explained the problem to.

Complaints about not tasting liquor in a frozen drink makes bartenders laugh and sometimes leads to over pouring to see if you really want to taste it.

The more fun trick was splashing booze in/on the straw.

It was the alcohol saving way to shut people up.

Over pouring...

I know what those words mean but strung together they make no sense.

Mom made daiquiris around Christmas, so very simple to do.

1 big can frozen limeade.
2 limeade cans water.
2 limeade cans white rum.
Mix well, freeze at least overnight.

Spoon into small glasses, serve with a small straw. Garnish with a maraschino cherry if you're going fancy...

that sounds pretty good! I always liked Papa's version (shaken not frozen) but you don't often see that one anymore.

three of our usual locales do actually have granita/squishee machines with ~margaritas in it, or sometimes just something the bartender made up. might be nice if they did e.g. bourbon smash or rum-punch versions too.

Let me know when you guys step up to a Sonic slush cocktail. They have "uncorked" versions that taste like wine coolers, but are alcohol free.

Limeade with tequila.
Blue coconut with Malibu and silver rum.
Cherry with vanilla vodka.
Lemonade with vodka.
Some of my favorites.
