I have seen some urban exploration videos of the places it is just so damn bizarre and cheaply built.

Pretty sure I saw this on Fark a couple of months ago.

I find it strange to see so many large houses crammed so close together. Surely land wasn't that expensive that they had to cram them in like that?

Like many large developments where the majority of the property is bought by overseas investors and shell companies, they're not designed with comfortable living as their primary goal.  Even if everything had been on track I doubt even 50% occupancy of the place.

They look shiatty and cheap and are all the same, no one wants to live there. That is why rich people/developers need real architects, artists and designers, etc.
You have this shiat, nice idea, but a huge fail in architecture.

What I want to know is why the hell they thought *anyone* would want to live there? If it was a weird ass house standing on its own grounds with some nice fruit trees and had a nice view of a lake or the sea then yeah I see someone would buy it.

But when you're surrounded by houses just like your one with absolutely no privacy and in the middle of nowhere then what's the point?

You get to live in a unique house, just like everyone else around you?

I worked on a luxury development in central London.  Fully 75% of the apartments were owned by Chinese or Russian companies.  They started at £800k for a studio and went up to £24M for the penthouse.  Most are still empty.

Some where out there is a real estate mad man who is even crazier than today's Trump. Fortunately Trump doesn't build things any more, just slaps his family name on them and takes a cut in cash or condos to sell to Russian oligarchs and favour-currying Trumpers..

Slow news day, let's rehash this failed real estate development in Turkey...from 2014.

What makes you say that? The only foam I saw in that video was insulation.

One of the reasons the housing and therefore rental prices skyrocketed in NYC, due to the ripple effect. Gulf Arabs, Russians, and Chinese and others. Many would only live there for a week or so per year for their annual NYC vacations, others never used them.
