More likely the next Pennsylvania republican  candidate for Senate. He may even get a republican judge that has slapped a domestic violence victim around in court and jailed her for testifying against a man.

Wonder what his wife and two kids think about this?

Also how t f is someone making DA money unable to come up with 10% of $5000 bail?

This is seriously creepy depraved shiat.

"Somerset County DA Jeffrey Lynn Thomas, 36, allegedly attacked the unidentified woman on Sept. 18, having first contacted her on Snapchat to say he'd be coming over in a few minutes, according to police. A criminal complaint obtained by the Somerset County, Pennsylvania Tribune-Democrat states that the woman knew Thomas in a professional capacity and that she had for years rebuffed his persistent sexual advances.

Thomas sent the Snapchat message at around 11 p.m. last Saturday, the complaint explains. She replied that he was not welcome there, and to please stay away. Soon after, Thomas walked into the woman's home with an armload of beer cans and handed her one, according to cops.

The woman asked Thomas to leave, but he reportedly refused and became "agitated." After she slapped him, Thomas hit her in the face and gave her a nosebleed, the complaint states.

After the woman told Thomas again to leave, he pulled down her top, undressed himself, and raped her, according to a press release issued by the State Police.

"During the assault, Thomas grabbed her by the neck making it hard to breath [sic]," the complaint alleges. The woman's child was home during the attack, police said. Thomas finally left, but only after the woman promised him she wouldn't report him to the police, according to investigators. She reported the rape to Pennsylvania State Police on Monday."

I'm sure he has a Rolex to pawn.

They say Rolexes are handy in that they're quite easy to pawn for decent cash if you're hurting for money.

Gotta say, if any of the creeps that have ever bothered me were stupid enough to announce they were coming over, I would be armed and every entry point locked.  There would be no "walked in with beer in hand."

Someone creeps me out, they get cut out of my life right then.  No second chances.

I don't blame this poor woman, she probably felt that no one would believe her over an elected officer of the court.  Hell, I might even call 911 and say I was having a medical emergency, just so there would be witnesses there when the rapist showed up.

Never surrender and think assault is tolerable or inevitable.

"Like any dad who sees his 5-year-old daughter upset, I got upset,"

And this is why we call you children.

I used to see my children get upset all time. That is what children do but I never reacted to anything iin this way

According to charging documents, Thomas caused "a hazardous and physically offensive condition using obscene language."

If y'all want to be treated like adults act like one.

You say you do and we are the children?

Hang on... communication established... got it, chief...

One of your finest and most successful here...

This seems to be a trend with them.

Thomas is not the first Pennsylvania DA to be hit with sex assault charges in recent months. Earlier this year, Bradford County District Attorney Chad Michael Salsman, 44, was accused of sexually assaulting at least five female clients when he worked as a defense attorney prior to taking office in Jan. 2020. Salsman traded legal services for sex, and he demanded nude photographs of his victims, according to prosecutors. Salsman, who is also a Republican, was charged with sexual assault, indecent assault, witness intimidation, obstruction of justice, and promoting prostitution. He resigned in May.

That seemed odd to me too. Did she not have door locks? Did she give him a key for some reason? How was he able to so casually stroll into her house with an armful of beer?

It certainly doesn't excuse him for getting all frat-rapey though. Gotta wonder what charm school out there is teaching assholes like him to behave like this. Sometimes I look at the world, and get the feeling that far too many people these days think that Biff Tannen was the hero/role model of the BttF movies.

Counter point: a professional she'd worked with who had allegedly been a total dickhole before. Perhaps she thought he was just making a drunken idiotic call again.

I have to imagine if she thought this was anything other than an asshole she knows blowing off steam she'd have called the cops.

You'd think a DA of all people would be fully aware that doing crimes like that is throwing your life away.

But it sounds like the DA job was only secondary to his main lifestyle of drunken assholery.

You're really asking this in a country where many people don't lock their doors at night or lock them right before they go to bed? Really? You need to question her judgement about a door?

Go through the list of what he's accused of doing. Is there anything questionable there?

Of course there's plenty that's questionable and obviously downright despicable about what he did, I thought I was very clear about that. But if I were a woman, and someone who had sexually harassed me in the past texted me late at night saying 'I'm coming over with beer,' my first thought would be to double check that all my doors were locked.

Maybe he showed up less than a minute after he texted her, or maybe she forgot about the key under the mat, I don't know. There are certainly some plausible explanations for how he was able to get through the door, and it's possible the article simply left those out. And yes, there are plenty of people in this country who don't take locking their doors as seriously as they should.

However, when she had some forewarning that an asshole like this was coming over, don't you think it seems a little strange that he'd be able to stroll inside so casually when he got there, and didn't end up pounding on a locked door while she called the cops?

Actually, no college fraternity seems to be in the story, so this appears to just be just non-frat plain-ol' rape.

Like, what you and yours might name, "legitimate rape".

Alas, her body apparently couldn't just shut it down as it occurred.

One hopes the state doesn't compel his victim to bring its issue to term.

My intent was only to point out one small peculiarity in the story, but since everyone seems to have already decided that I'm trying to be some sort of rape-apologist or victim-shamer, I'm going to quit while I'm behind. Dude absolutely deserves to rot in jail for what he did, and I hope she at least gets some feeling of consolation for the trauma she experienced when that happens.

To be fair, somerset County is about 30 miles N/NE of BFE. They're about 2 generations past thinking hitting a woman on the head and dragging her to your cabin by the hair was acceptable courtin' behavior.
