ImpendingCynic: Markoff_Cheney: I just had a weird thought, what if through some transgression of events we end up needing Space Force to defend against an alien threat and they win.
And then Trump somehow did something right?  Even as dumb as Space Force sounds right now, like 60 years from now our grandkids could be thankful that Space Force saved all Earthians from the Xolodbznzians.

If a species is advanced enough to travel many light years with a large enough force to conquer a planet with 7 billion people, do you think we really stand a chance?

All they need to do is divert one asteroid into a collision course with Earth and we are boned.  Hell, they might do it and then land to claim to save us.  By taking the survivors to another planet.  After weighing us first.

Fark is Chapter 5?

2021-09-23 5:31:55 PM

I hereby demand that I be given a Fark account: Fark is Chapter 5?

"There was no point at all to the Book, which is what made it an especially dreaded form of penance. It contained twelve chapters. Like the scale used to measure earthquakes, these got exponentially worse as they went on, so Chapter Six was ten times as bad as Chapter Five, and so on. Chapter One was just a taste, meted out to delinquent children, and usually completed in an hour or two. Two meant at least one overnight stay, though any self-respecting troublemaker could bang it out in a day. Five typically meant a stay of several weeks. Any sentence of Chapter Six or higher could be appealed to the Primate and then to the Inquisition."

So I started watching those Chicago shows on NBC on Wednesdays.
I mainly like Fire.
The others are ok, but I watch them cuz occasionally the shows interact and story lines cross.

Not knowing a thing bout firefighting, I am curios how authentic that show really is.

Nice!  I have a few different varieties of creeping thyme out back.  They're relatively maintenance free, although the extreme heat this summer sort of gave even the hardiest of our plants the vapors.  I like the woolly thyme; it's sort of grayish and snuggly.

Ok.  I know y'all are tired of hearing bout my trip.

But here is a summary.

We took in a tons of doggies. We also found homes for a bunch, but not as many as we took in.

Build a pet hydrotherapy pool. And I saw 3 injuried doggies get to use it.

My cousin has a thrift store which is 60% of the funding for the rescue. Not sure if it's cuz it's Vegas or if it's because it funds a rescue, but people donate new stuff with tags and plastic wrap still on it.
A $4000 Armani dress with the tag still on was donated.
So was a new Xbox game and 10 games.

Also did tons of family stuff.

Went to the Iowa State-UNLV game. Allegiant stadium is a wowzer.
Iowa State won 48-3.
Saw an ISU graduate who is playing in the NBA in my section. Didn't bug him for a selfie since 10 others were. He was there to enjoy the game.

Went to Fremont numerous times. My cousin lives bout 8 blocks from there. Lots cheaper than the Strip.

Spent most my time in the Arts District. Don't think there is a single place to gamble there.
Lots of good bars and fantastic restaurants there.
Plus most are dog friendly. Saw so many doggos in bars, the people had beer and the dogs were given water dishes.

Love my family but 11 days in Vegas is too much.

Ok. Done talking bout my trip and boring y'all.
