COVID Wave 7

WHY WON'T THESE GO AWAY?!

Convicted Murders can now decide if they feel like going to jail or not.

Seems legit.

Test positive, decide not to quarantine, infect others?  That's a lawsuit for reckless endangerment.

When you attend a medical conference regarding the spread of disease through nocturnal sex with demons, you earn the title of Dr. Demon Seeds.

It's already optional everywhere. Here in Illinois a hair salon let a stylist work unmasked after testing positive. She gave Covid to my friend's mom who was in the next chair over, who though vaccinated and masked, had immune issues that made the vaccine less effective for her. And now she's dead.

We are back to the point where the states taking this seriously should have instituted a travel ban for ANYONE coming into the state from these areas.

Covid is part of climate change, submitter.

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere near that plague state any time soon.

That only will help if it happens in a matter of hours; otherwise the stupid will migrate all over your country.

Which will fail in Florida courts, and if it doesn't, the law will be changed so it does.

The GOP is working hard to make it so there would be less loss of life if we bombed certain states rather than keep trying to talk to them.Quo says again.

If climate change pushes Floridians out of Florida, they'll need somewhere else to live. Do you want Floridians moving into your communities, sending their kids to your school, shopping at the same Walmart you do?

It's more humane to keep them corralled in their third world state than it would be to release them into genpop across the country.

The order, signed by Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, still requires children with covid-19 symptoms or a positive coronavirus test to isolate. But children who are exposed to the coronavirus by coming into close contact with someone who tests positive do not have to stay home if they do not have symptoms.

Let's be honest, this was never happening anyway in Florida.

Next week.
Florida businesses: "Why won't anyone come work in our crowded restaurant/daycare/school/theme parks for $10 an hour?!?!"

2021-09-23 2:13:30 PM
The whole GOP strategy around COVID feels like bad improv. It's like they totally lost control of the scene as they continue to "yes, and" on the dumbest people's ideas.

"Covid looks bad for Trump's presidency."
"That's true. Also it's a hoax by the liberals."
"Of course it is. But there's a vaccine coming."
"Yeah, there's a vaccine which is also a liberal conspiracy."
"Not only that, but masks are bad. We're all being manipulated."

And then we, like any audience watching bad improv, pray that it will end soon.

The COVID death rate in Florida is currently more than twice as high as the death rate from any of the previous waves, so obviously the important thing is to do nothing to slow the spread, make sure nobody else does anything to slow the spread either, and implement policies that will spread it faster.

COVID is basically negligence proof. It's next to impossible to prove with sufficient certainty where you got it from.

"But you could've picked it up from someone else" is a solid legal defense.

I'd say Florida vaccine/disease trifecta in play between this and the guy who wants to brings mumps and measles back, but then that's basically every day here as it is anyway.

The article explicitly says parent can choose to not quarantine their children if they're exposed to covid but don't show symptoms or have a positive covid test.

There's enough stupid misinformation without adding to it.

Floridians have legal cover for reckless homicide. You might think that's as low as it can go. But you'd be wrong. Floridians get punished for trying to protect themselves and others.

How cute, you think that you be able get more money out of some slack-jawed yokel than what your lawyer will charge you. And that is ignoring that jury will be made out of people who elected Florida's elected officials and the difficulty of proving this person was the person who infected you as opposed the umpteen other people not taking proper precautions.

Thank you.

Florida sucks, Desantis sucks, their whole Covid "plan" sucks, but this headline is a lie. The article clearly states that a positive test still requires isolation. Exposure =/= a positive test.

Otherwise, it's the second damned sentence of the article: "The order, signed by Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, still requires children with covid-19 symptoms or a positive coronavirus test to isolate."

Can we please, please, PLEASE not be like the assholes who spread misinformation just because it "feels" right or confirms what we already believe? Facts matter.

And this headline is free of them.

People in the comments expressing outrage are outraged over something that isn't even true, as you can plainly see right at the start of the article.

Florida still sucks horrid summertime balls, enough so that we shouldn't have to resort to making crap up to recognize how bad their Covid response has been.

Do children who have been exposed have to get a test?

Bobson Dugnutt: Yeah, I'm not going anywhere near that plague state any time soon.

You are smart.  We went on vacation to FL, came home with our complimentary case of Covid.  We were pretty careful (other than actually going) - didn't eat indoors, stayed with our family, mostly just went to the pool at our rental house and the beach.  Wife caught a breakthrough, gave it to me (also a breakthrough) and our kids once we were home.  Happily, caught it before it spread to anyone else, no bad symptoms and we're all mostly recovered now.  My takeaways:

1) That thing about Pfizer immunity weakening seems legit.
2) Don't go to FL, or any other state where the nutjobs are running the asylum.  No matter how much you miss the beach.

Your order may vary.

Everyone's been told what to do. Not the state's fault they won't do it. It's not the state's job to protect people from themselves.

Correct.

If plague rats were not a danger to others, the state wouldn't need to get involved.

MillionDollarMo: Great time to go to Disney World.

I just saw a bit on youtube about Disney Cruises.

They're doing it right. Out of 1500 people on the cruise they only had a dozen or kids younger than 12 allowed on the cruise.

Why? Because the mouse will not even let you in the door you do not to give proof of vax on a Cruse...and for kids proof of neg covid test at 72 hours, 24 hours and DAY OF departure in the tent city they set up.

For a kid under 12 to get a 'pass' on the ship,  they have to produce weekly tests and then tests negative the days before and the day of sailing.

I'd feel far more comfortable on a Disney Cruise, or Park than say a visit to Walmart or Publix.

The Gov. is the fark ass here. And I bet Disney will take him down as he's farken about with tourism boycotts for being an asshole.

I mean - completely fair point.  It was dumb to go.  Simply trying to say, don't be dumb like we were.

If I hit myself with a hammer, and I report that it hurts, it can be true that I was an idiot to hit myself with a hammer AND that it hurts.  But, sure, you can ignore the data point if you want.

Based on what evidence can you make claim #1? Having gotten COVID doesn't mean the vaccine didn't work or that it's weakening. There's no way for you to know that.
