Florida has a higher landmass:border ratio than any other state. If we have to build a modern leper colony, there's nowhere better for it.

The time has come to quarantine Florida.

Diaz, who came down with COVID-19 last winter, said he wants to review the state's vaccination efforts as well as Gov. Ron DeSantis' work on getting monoclonal antibody treatments to those who test positive for COVID-19.

The Senator, who acknowledges he hasn't gotten a COVID-19 vaccine, says he's firmly against vaccine mandates. At the urging of the Governor, the Legislature earlier this year passed a bill that would prevent private businesses from requiring proof of vaccination from their customers. But the bill did not ban employers from requiring their employees to be vaccinated.

Unlike some of his Republican colleagues, Diaz said he does not endorse blocking private employers from requiring vaccines.

It "gets more complicated," Diaz said of striking the balance between individuals' and employers' rights.

Republicans opposed to so-called "vaccine passports" have faced criticism, particularly as it relates to schools where current law already requires a bevy of vaccinations. Under current law, only parents who cite religious or health reasons can have their children exempted from the vaccination requirements.

Diaz said it may be time to "review" those mandates, in place for such illnesses as mumps and measles. But he said there was a difference between long-tested vaccines and the new COVID-19 vaccine.

"I think there's a distinction when you have something that is proven to work and doesn't have any side effects," Diaz said.

I'm lobbying for getting rid of some restaurant regulations.  No shirt and or no shoes should be no problem.  As a worker I shouldn't be forced to wash my hands or wear a hair/beard net either. What my body leaks or sheds is my business and big government shouldn't tell me what to do.

Btw:  have you tried the mushroom soup?

There have been vaccine mandates as long as there have been vaccines.  The inconvenient question kept arising: what is so different about THIS vaccine?  As months went by and it became more and more evident it was safe, it got harder and harder to come up with an answer that wasn't the real answer of "because stick it to the libz, lol."

So, yup, sure as the sun rises in the East, incapable of intellectual honestly and unable to admit they were wrong, antivaxxers are forced into the corner where they had to reject the concept of vaccination altogether.

That dumbass doesn't realize every vaccine he claimed is long-tested with no side effects actually has a label with side effects listed.

Info, but it's going to take a lot more conservatives and idiots to die before the change that's needed happens.

Personally, at this point... the GOP can take their time. I can watch them die as long as necessary.

They should really consider if hospitals are effective.  A whole lot of people seem to die there.

Pft.  Optimist.

I have no hope for the future of humanity.

Tribalism clearly had its place getting humanity to where it is now, but its becoming increasingly clear is is a fatal tumor that was inevitably going to metastasize when we got to a certain developmental point.

Our inability to see beyond our own localized selfish interests and think about the collective well being of humanity will do us in, sooner rather than later.  The actual immediate cause -- global warming, pandemic, war, or some combination -- is really beside the point.  An existential crisis is now or will soon present itself.  Incapable of looking for solutions beyond what benefits our own short term self-gratification, humanity's collective response will be to shrug and leap into it, Thelma and Louise style.

There needs to be a call for this chucklehead's resignation.

2021-09-23 2:25:51 PM
The US no longer allows the oral polio vaccine because the side effects outweigh the benefits. It literally causes more cases of polio than it prevents.

We no longer vaccinate for smallpox for similar reasons. Since it's gone from the world, there is no benefit to it and there is, as with all vaccines, a very small chance of problems.

For the rest of the vaccine schedule, the benefits FAR outweigh the risks.

Which is to say, the people who are managing the vaccine schedule already know what they're doing and scheduling vaccines appropriately while this guy is a moran.
