Like everything else the last group broke, Biden will have to go back and refix this problem and it will be harder than the last time.

Of course, there will be tons of opposition because the only solution the Republicans know is war and they can't wait to start the killing.

Yeah but how will Israel be destroyed so that Jesus will come back if we allow Israel to be destroyed?

This is how evangelical voters think.

Can someone give a legit reason why Iran shouldn't have nukes?

No one should, but since some do, it really doesnt matter if others get them either.

Praying they get the bomb soon so we can stop pretending to give a shiat.

Because they're for us, not them. We're good, you see, and they're not.

That's ... literally it. There's nothing more to it than that.

Yep, but at this point the Iranian leadership would have to be either dumb as a farking stump - or much much better better people in general than should realistically be inferred - to not just go ahead and develop nukes.

I do not blame them at all if they do. We've done pretty much everything in our power to PROVE to them that they do actually need them.

They have proof positive that any agreement made with the US involved to NOT develop nukes isn't worth the paper it's printed on. We overthrew their previous government, which is why the current government is even there. We straight-up assassinated one of their top military leaders recently. We'll bomb their facilities and kill people whenever we feel like it - and if not us, we'll provide support and backup for the Israelis doing it in our stead. Our close ally the Israeli government murders their scientists and whoever the fark else they want to murder on the regular. American leaders have been consistently threating to commit mass murder and/or genocide on them, and we're constantly saber rattling HARD in their direction.

The Iranians are no teddy bears, but I don't blame them one bit if they tell us to go pound sand and develop a nuke anyway. It's the only way to protect themselves from one of the most murderous countries in the world which continually destabilizes and bullies other countries - The United States of America.

Eh, I vaguely read the article -- and like many others here -- big deal.

Iran has been getting the rusty-end of the sh*t-stick for so long (what with the sanctions & whatnot) I would totally want to one-up too if I were them.

And it's not like I'm Team Iran or anything, but you gotta hand it to them -- they've been getting f*cked with by so many people over so many decades, and yet they're still here, and they're still pushing the edge. I'm actually kinda impressed.

F*cking Persians, man -- do not f*ck with them unless you want a land war in Asia.

In fact, the Institute for Science and International Security estimates the "breakout" time needed for Iran to produce enough fissile material for a single nuclear bomb could now be as little as one month.

How many goddamn decades now has Iran been "as little as one month" away from a nuke??

<csb>

In the early 80s my older brother mixed sound for a cover band, and one of the songs they did was My Sharona. The whole 'Ayatollah of Iran" thing was big in the news at the time so in the second verse, they changed the lyric to "Close enough to look in my eye-atollah!".

They are ultimately run by a group of religious zealots that believe in some mythical higher power which could lead to warped behavior to the detriment of our planet. So essentially the same reason the US should not have nukes.

How many decades has the US been Israel's bodyguard? That many.

And then there was this: "which the U.S. exited in 2018 due to its numerous shortcomings."  Far as I can tell, we exited because of a single shortcoming, which unfortunately had been elected president.

We really did straight up screw the pooch deposing Mossadegh in favor of Pahlavi.  Course he was trying to nationalize BP Oilfields, so it was a bit of a tit for tat FAFO all around.

"Iran is experimenting with shortcuts in the enrichment of uranium to potentially accelerate the production of fissile material for nukes."

Yep, nothing more safe than taking shortcuts in science where it comes to fissile materials, right?

Yeah, but that's kinda' the thing. I was gonna' throw-in some NK shade too, but I chose against it:

North Korea gets nukes and the world panics for a bit, but no nuclear disaster happened. Iran might get nukes and "durr hurr"-- the world super-panics.

Nevermind that Russia has been providing that technology to both countries -- one is clearly worse than the other.

Nevermind that NK is an authoritarian sh*thole and Iran has at least made attempts at chilling-out over the years, but everyone still gives them the middle finger anyway.

Nope -- everyone respeckt NK now, but we can still take the ball away from Iran!

It's like Iran is the kid on the playground that no one wanted to play four-square with, but then the other not-so-cool kid got let into the team, despite them being assholes too, so Iran was like: screw you guys, Imma make my own tetherball machine!

And then North Korea went home crying into his bed, because he knew nobody really liked him if it weren't for his sweet-assed Mr. Nuclear lunch box.

Meanwhile Iran is getting pumped up with his tetherball and flexing his muscles, but all the other kids in the yard are like: naw, we're still gonna let NK on the team.

And Iran is like: "Well, f*ck all ya'll b*tches -- Imma do what I wawnt!"

Joe Biden isn't part of a death cult, silly. Hell he's not even part of an organized political party.
