This guy would fit right in as a surgeon from the 1800s.

Not too great a fit for a 21st century surgeon general, though.

So... how long before Florida criminalizes hand washing for food workers?

From his WSJ editorial.  It starts out with:  One remarkable aspect of the Covid-19 pandemic has been how often unpopular scientific ideas, from the lab-leak theory to the efficacy of masks, were initially dismissed, even ridiculed, only to resurface later in mainstream thinking.

And it gets worse.  He's a sleazy lunatic.

Dissolve the state government and bump Florida down to territory or colony, since they are incapable of governing themselves.

Honestly they're worse, Nurgle is at least jolly and very up front about it.  These are just sleazy assholes.

I'm thinking of fully embracing flat earthism to increase the chances that I'll be appointed as the head of NASA one day.

I wish I was joking.

This secular / religious coexistence only worked when the religious politicians knew that religion was bullshiat.

Everyone knows illness seems from an imbalance of the humors; this "germ theory" is nothing but tosh. I mean, look around: do you see any of these so-called germs?

If COVID infection was relatively safe and produced a robust immunity he might have a point. Unfortunately neither is true. Florida is going to end up killing a lot of folks.

Aw hell.  Go for it Florida.

Forget the horse paste and iodine:  "Meth cures Covid!"  no, wait... "Krokodil cures Covid!"

Basically it'll be something along the lines of "We wouldn't have killed our own people if you libturds had just finished building His wall and harassed minorities harder."

They still do.  But they have discovered that embracing the bullshiat makes them popular with a certain part of the electorate, no matter how completely insane it is.  They are reaping the rewards of the "long game" conservative plan to dumb down US education, ramp up fundamentalist religion and increase hostility to science.

Ladapo will also be leaving his position at UCLA, where he focused on cardiovascular diseases and the cost-effectiveness of diagnostics. He will take a new position at the University of Florida, he said.

Sadly, yet another person flees California, fueling our population bust. Wait a minute, did I say sadly? I meant the opposite of that and good riddance.

Yeah within the space of one day I've heard right wingers explain how the lefties have:

- tricked right wingers into not having the vaccine by urging right wingers to have it, and

- made it impossible for right wingers to accept the need for measures to combat climate change by being so in favour of them.

Both excellent points in the minds of people who think like petulant children.

It's Florida. I'm amazed that it's a human and not an alligator with a meth problem and a stethoscope.

When I saw we were going to get a new surgeon general here in Florida, I looked the person up. Based on their schooling and where they had worked, I had a bit of hope. I should have known better.

"The state should be promoting good health, and vaccination isn't the only path to that," Ladapo said. "It's been treated almost like a religion, and that's just senseless. There's a lot of good pathways to health, and vaccination is not the only one. So, we support measures for good health-that's vaccination, losing weight, it's exercising more, it's eating more fruits and vegetables, everything. We support it all."

Weight loss, exercise, fruits, and vegetables! Of course! Eureka! Why didn't millions of real doctors and scientists the world over think of this sooner?! Somebody get this man a Nobel Prize!

We're all gonna die.

UF employs a professor that actively spreads plague rat propaganda and misinformation every chance he gets on Facebook and even in his classes. UF is aware of this. Apparently they don't care.

They also claim they "don't have the authority" to mandate masks on campus.

ha ha, no. damn near all the "elderly" (65+YOs) in FL have been fully vaccinated since very early this year. at least the white, retired ones formerly of NY/NJ or the midwest. they've already started getting their 3rd shot, just to be safe.

the unvaxxed (eligible) in FL are aged 12-50-something. most of the new deaths will be people in their mid 40s, who are a bit (or more) overweight, and have public-facing jobs (like retail, education, healthcare), or insist on going to massive in-person church services, concerts, sporting events, or rowdy, crowded bars. and they will mostly be anti-vaxxers.

/fully vaxxed 41 YO floridian

//when's the last time humans developed "herd immunity" against ANY deadly virus WITHOUT a vaccine? you need both an effective vaccine and a lack of non-human reservoir species. think smallpox. think polio (almost).

///covid "herd immunity" is a vile and dangerous lie. the virus mutates quickly and new variants lead to re-infections. it lives in LOTS of humans now, as well as critters from white-tailed deer to probably house cats.

i want this "doctor" tried for mass murder at the Hague, right next to Ronny DeDeath, no later than 2023. (offer only valid if they're not dead of breakthrough covid by then.)

i can't overstate this "doctor's" level of ignorance, idiocy, and magical-thinking!

first off this dude is an internist with a research interest in finding cheaper ways, through public guidelines/behaviors, to prevent heart attacks.

NOT a viral epidemiologist or any kind of specialist in infectious disease.
DeathSantis's last "informal" covid guru is a california adolescent psychiatrist, who ALSO happens to preach "herd immunity" and hates masks. shocking, i know!

the only POSSIBLY dumber take than "we'll get to natural herd immunity for covid anyday! in 2 weeks at most!" is "covid does not even exist. at all."

remember friends, "the common cold" is a coronavirus. a cluster of rapidly changing variants with no vaccines. it spreads freely through global human populations at all times, and yet we have no "herd immunity" -prior infection doesn't rule out future variant infections!

other than the fact it's significantly more deadly, why would unmasked, unvaxxed, totally unmitigated covid global spread magically create "herd immunity"?

i can't stand the stupidity of my country.

2021-09-22 9:16:58 AM
Up to this point I don't think covid is killing Republicans fast enough to make a real difference, but there is hope.
