Sure it's that long in the sports tab, but in the pol tab it stretches all the way to Argentina.

Weeks? Try months.

The article promised me a time-lapse video. That is not what I saw. The video was good, but not as advertised.

I don't believe this was really shot along the Appalachian Trail.   I mean, there's a sign that shows the border between North Carolina and Georgia,, but I don't hear anyone squealing like a pig.

Fun fact.  The props department didn't have a body-shaped thing to put in the body bag, so Cameron Diaz offered to get inside.  That whole scene it's her in the bag, going limp.

This reminds me of the time the CEO of my publicly traded company took 3 months off and biked across the continental US and then wrote about how great it was in the company newsletter to a company where 70-80% of their workforce has no more than 2 weeks of vacation.  Which includes sick days.

You don't have to hike the whole trail.

Over the past 50 years, I have hiked a number of sections of the trail, in 2 to 4 day chunks. 10/10 would recommend.

"4 minute version".

I think subby (and the headline writer of the original article) are the reason we still get gas stations charging us $2.99 99/100 per gallon.

How could fark.com ethically link to a story about the worst-smelling people in the world all shiatting in the same places while maintaining a venereal disease superhighway?

Sure, not the same trail. Definitely the same people:

I grew up 5 minutes away from the Appalachian Trail. The segment in and around Boiling Springs, PA is beautiful and is an easy day hike. They have a Conservancy office right in town beside the lake, the post office is right across the street, and there's a few convenience stores and a nice cafe right on the square.

It's a nice rustic town I grew up in. The town I currently live in is the next one over, Carlisle, which is much bigger and more developed but still quaint in a lot of ways.

So it's basically roads, al lot of green and some water. Well, that saved me a trip.

Just the other day I hiked the entire width of the Appalachian Trail in a matter of minutes.  At the Gap near Robbinsville.  Both there and back.  Took me less than 15 minutes.

My son loves Puppy Pals on Disney Junior, of which he is the creator, writer, and voice of the main human.  Every time I see that show, I think of "Seven Minute Abs" and "I'm someone's biatch!"

I would frequently hike the area around the NY/NJ border of the AT. There's a cool lake at the top of the mountain nearby called Surprise Lake. The water is orange due to being super rich in iron.

When I was living in NYC, there was a company that would drive up to a dozen people out to the nearby trails* and go on guided hikes. One of the guides had through-hiked the AT the previous year. I asked him what his biggest takeaway was and his response was he never wants to eat peanut butter again.

(Harriman State Park is only a 45-minute drive from Manhattan and has a ton of fantastic trails.)
