Can't eat cyber money. Can't burn it to keep warm. It doesn't even exist.

I consider Bitcoin equal to an NFT.

You keep warm by mining cryptocurrency, not by burning it. Even a small ASIC rig will double as a decent space heater. You can put it on the floor under your desk to blow warm air over your feet on chilly winter days.

The entire market was down, so no surprise.

Has bitcoin gone way up from years ago? Certainly. Will it continue to do so? Who knows.

All I know, is I bought some tiny amount of btcc.b on a lark back when they first created it. It went down, and has never reached that point since.

I don't know who you're talking about.
If I was 25, I'd have 10-15% of my portfolio in cyber.
What do you want people to do - start a religion about it?

It's your lack of faith in Bitcoin that is bringing it down.  Some of you are REFUSING to HODL.  You have angered Bitcoin!  You will pay for your heresy.

Just the periodic reminder that most people on here aren't anti-Bitcoin per-say. It's obviously been a wonderful investment, and anyone who says otherwise is foolish. What people push back on is the whole dumb "it's the currency of the future!" thing. It's like if someone won the Powerball and then insisted lottery tickets were going to be the new world currency

The issue with bitcoin having been a wonderful investment is that all those gains are 100% predicated on it becoming the currency of the future.

Hey, whatever the reason you can't argue with the results

...so far. It's not going to be the currency of the future, obviously. But if enough people believe it to make it worth something now, hey why not? Obviously there's no guarantee going forward

Periodic reminder that Bitcoin, is NOT an investment.

Investments must fundamentally "do" something.
businesses that produce useful things or services (stocks)
Lending money to businesses or government to spend on useful things such as growing the business or constructing infrastructure (bonds)
Owning real property (or pieces of it.... REITS) to rent/lease

Buying and selling commodities and currencies (gold, pork bellies, bitcoins, beanie babies, cards, NFTs) is speculation. Not that that's a bad thing.  Speculators make money on JUST the hope that someone will buy the same thing for more later.

Now that's only partly true for investments (buy low sell high). There's also the money those things make while you own them... dividends, interest, rent checks.

you can of course buy/sell investments speculatively (YOLOing GME). But you can't invest in speculations.
