Unlikely. He committed too many simultaneous crimes and destroyed a $300,000 vehicle that he was operating, much too far from home.

I expect he's going to see prison and a significant civil judgment regarding the vehicle since it's a slam-dunk for an insurer to deny a claim based on the illegal operation.

The only thing of value lost or damaged in that accident was the Rolls
Royce. Which I assume was a rental. They were driving impaired with two hookers, how great could either of those cops be?

FTA: "Ferraro, 34, has been charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance resulting in death."

He killed a friend, destroyed a Rolls Royce and will likely be facing significant prison time. Sounds like a great vacation.

"The other two other officers, John Truhart of New Haven and Matthew Borges of Bethel, sustained minor injuries, for which they were treated and released. Two women from Texas, who were also passengers, were not seriously injured. "

I'm sure these 2 other officers will be reprimanded for allowing the driving officer to drive while intoxicated.  Right?  This is how it'll work?

I mean they should've stopped him from driving or called the police, they're police officers and they are held to a higher standard.

Hey, stop laughing.  This is serious.

I don't see anything particularly spectacular about it.  It looks like they took design elements from a first-generation Chrysler 300 and applied them to a full-sized Ford SUV platform.

I'm sure it is nice inside but I don't see anything that inspires awe compared to any other large private vehicle on the road these days.

Plus they clearly weren't seated properly.  A RR Cullinan seats 5 at most.  4 if there's a console in the back seat.  I assume the ladies weren't sitting on the tailgate seats while the vehicle was in motion.

Until his blood test evidence is ruled inadmissible due to some random error with the chain of custody, or it turns out the arresting officers accidentally forgot to sign their forms. But what are the chances of something like that ever happening?

My biggest complaint with most luxury cars is the extreme amounts of maintenance they require and the high cost of that maintenance.

I was acquainted with a pawnshop owner.  He was driving his buddy's Maybach while the buddy was in prison.  He claimed that the buddy gave him the OK so long as he didn't go insane with the miles and kept up on the maintenance.  A damn oil change on the thing was like $500.

Honestly I'd either go American or Japanese.  Unfortunately the Toyota Century is only produced right hand drive, plus it's geared toward being chauffeured with more of the luxury in the back really.  Honestly I'd like an old Imperial, something in the '64-66 range, or a '59 Cadillac.  Where the underlying car is built to a crazy standard with basic technologies simply made better, than with experimental or oddball systems.

The Hyundai G series are really farking nice. Ton of features, and, well as far as other luxury cars are concerned, quite affordable, and come with a good warranty. The 3.5T puts out some decent power too.

Funny how the two sworn officers in the back seat, who made a decision NOT to try to stop the driver from driving obviously intoxicated, have had NO repercussions.

What crime did they commit? Other than being cops on Fark, that is. Then maybe you can point out some incidents where passengers were charged with a crime for failing to stop a driver from driving drunk.

Cops should be held to a higher standard.  Just because they were off duty doesn't mean they stop knowing that drinking and driving is not only illegal, but dangerous, and they moved forward with it.

If that's how they act off duty, what other shiat are they doing wrong?  This wasn't a cop just speeding or breaking a minor law, this is a major law for a reason, and they chose to ignore the law they swore to uphold.

They should definitely be reprimanded in some way.  On duty or off duty, they know the laws, there's no confusion about the laws in differing states.  They knowingly participated in breaking the law.

Agreed, but they shouldn't be held to a non-existent standard. The passenger cops didn't break any criminal laws when they failed to stop this guy from driving drunk. If there were such laws, shouldn't the hookers be held liable too? Or does the hooker union protect them?

What if they are sub-average people?  Maybe they can't even achieve the "standard" standard.  Maybe holding them to a higher standard is doomed to fail.
