Listen it's probably the highlight of the family's life that the little one was titled Miss Princess of the.... *reads article*... Miss Rodeo Florida Organization

Just keep on claiming the title.  It's not like anyone's going to verify you're a spoiled princess.

"It says their motto is to build confidence in young women and I'm wondering how this is doing that," Christie said.

That may be why they need the lesson, lady.

Maybe she needed more practice roping calves.

2021-09-19 9:20:11 AM
So she gets to keep the title "Missed Princess".

How hard can pageant scoring be? They obviously made multiple addition errors, because I can't imagine a fancy multiplication would ever make its way into the scoring formula.

Well. There is. The local pretty  gal and/or politicians daughter/niece/relative should have won.

"...my dad started talking about how the world isn't fair."

Like, for instance, you were declared the winner even though you really weren't; that's not fair.

"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

Apparently it's complex enough that if someone with some "juice" isn't satisfied with the results, they'll have a pretense to get the whole thing overturned.

Still has to suck for an eleven-year old kid...

It's the accountants' fault.  The parents forgot to get to them beforehand..  They needed to ask each of them just one question, "How much is  2 + 2?"  If the accountants look around carefully and quietly reply,  "How much do you want it to be?", they'll know that they have somebody that they can work with.

If they used an abacus for the scoring, that might explain some things.

Unless Asian, in which case they can probably get the answer than you could with a calculator.

Even faster if using a virtual abacus.

Wow, their refusal to have a tie in light of their egregious idiocy is pretty hilarious.

Everybody else wants to do the right thing and build confidence in both girls.

The lesson here may be: don't waste money on the judges unless the auditor us bought and paid for.

She's still my Princess. And she will be reinstated as Rodeo Princess on October 13. This guy that makes bath towels has evidence of scoring fraud.

Ugh. Ranchers.

Horses lend nothing to our economy. They're purely a vanity project. A super-expensive pet that can kill you when you spook it.

I dated two farmgirls. I learned my lesson. They're meant for guys named Buck or Big Jim who don't mind a chick who smells like horses and considers her stubbornness to be her best feature.

Good luck to the little girl. Let her have the Princess of the Rodeo title. It's likely the most exciting, interesting thing that'll happen to her in her entire life unless she leaves the ranch and finds a life outside of that social circle.

Here's the deal, it's a for profit business.  Your kid isn't any more special than any other kid, you just have a bit of spare money, you're easily suckered by "contests" that require you to pay to play.  Maybe you even think you can instill some confidence in your child with a cash injection.

If you really want to help with your child's confidence you'll sell the point that the journey, the interaction with other young children was the true reward.  It should be enough to participate in this camp to make new friends, don't be like Kevin.

Next year, send your kid to a paid "National Young Leaders" type scam camp, that has a much better chance of instilling confidence than a frickin beauty pageant with one winner and a bunch of losers.

Florida beauty pageants incorporate a complex weighting formula, we generally don't reveal it to outsiders but since we're all farkers here I'll share it with you.

Oh noes, kiddie beauty pageant winner finds out its all bullshiat?!

Also, quit pimping and sexualizing a goddamn 11 year old anyway. Let her be a kid and not have more anxiety over body image.

Poor kid, but she seems to be taking it well. At least, the news crew edited the footage for maximum maturity. IMO, she does deserve some kind of title because she's being a good role model about it.

Yeah, pageants are scary, but the whole tory reminded me more of this...

...than it reminded me of a scary objectification of the girls.

The journalist made it sound like the pageant was more about caring for animals than Jezebel training camp.

We need to teach each and every child that she is unique and special and an irreplaceable jewel in the tapestry of human life. Then let them all loose together to watch the ensuing carnage as reality collides with the BS we taught them

I knew a girl in college who also got the title "Miss Rodeo" but for different reasons.

I think the takeaway lesson for everyone is that we all can be Miss Princess.
