(Task and Purpose)   A lieutenant colonel in the Marines is willing to trash his career and any chance of honorable discharge and retirement benefits just to try and file a futile charge of "dereliction of duty" against a marine general over the Afghanistan pullout   (taskandpurpose.com) divider line

try TO file, not try AND file. Infinitive verb vs. a conjunction.

And then I read the rest of that. "to try and file of futile charge of  ..."

Son, you lost me. Try a higher register.

Wow

When I was a kid in San Diego I was really into the literal red-headed step-daughter of a submarine commander.

One day I met him waiting for his stepdaughter to get home, while he was off duty and we sat at his kitchen table and he basically told me that dinosaurs never existed and the world was 4000 years old. This resulted after I asked him if the reactors on his boat used uranium or plutonium, what was their half life, how long did that fuel last (I was still flying high from Cosmos and the idea of carbon dating). He just went there when I brought up the age of bones and radioactivity.

And they gave this farking genius a sub. I wouldn't have let him near my mom's lawn mower if he'd begged me, after that conversation.

And yes, eventually totally got with the red-headed step-daughter.

No. Don't make assumptions about intelligence based on the number of stripes on their sleeves.

No, we didn't leave much of anything
All that crap he is biatching about belonged to the Afghan armed forces

Now shut the f*ck up and get back to punishment detail, private

So I'm re-watching "The Wire" on HBO these past few weeks and this guy has what I'd call a Jimmy McNulty problem - even if you think you're the smartest guy in the room, there are multiple rooms above you and they all have one smartest guy in them. The smartest guy in the room above you is working with different facts than you have, so he's reaching different conclusions. The smartest guy two rooms above you is working with an even different set of facts.

What we are watching, in real time, is a relatively low level officer do a sideways with the press in an attempt to get his own way, which will then shiatcan an entire chain of command and risk the success of the entire organization to satisfy one man's insatiable ego. Like McNulty did making up a serial killer to get money for a gang investigation.

They are going to boot this guy out on his ass. There are ways for him to express his disapproval but none of them are the way he went about it.

Hey man. Blowing up children is like - the American way. No way that could ever be dereliction of duty.

2021-09-19 2:17:51 AM
I have never heard of something like this ever happening before. So I guess it was never publicized but due to social media it is now or the guy is just f*cking nuts.

/I'll go for the nuts
//not like that, you pervs!
///you know who you are

2021-09-19 2:19:19 AM
I'm confused how is it dereliction of duty?
Trump made an agreement with the Taliban to hand Afghanistan over to them after freeing their leader and several thousand Taliban fighters. Biden got an extension on the leave date of a few months so that it wouldn't be a complete shiat show.  So if anything the only person to charge for what happened would be Trump since he betrayed America and its interests to overthrow the Afghan government and put the Taliban in charge.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: Fox News appearances don't pay that much, man.

He's bucking to be the next Oliver North..That "martyr" for the cause who was just a cog
in the giant conspiracy wheel who ends up cashing in on the back end..

I'm sorry, but just because you are a "former (insert mid-officer rank here) from (insert military branch)" it doesn't make you an "expert" on everything military related. A lot of media (And I mean all of them) try
to pull their "experts" opinions on stuff that they are hard pressed to understand themselves..
Just because someone was a (let's say) Colonel in the Army, doesn't mean they know squat beyond
what they did...They could have been a Colonel, but in charge of distributing farking oil and grease to
mechanized units..WTF would that guy know about Anti-Aircraft missiles or the accuracy of Chinese
rifles?  Just because they reached some command rank doesn't mean they know diddly squat about anything..
It just means they put in their time, followed the rules and didn't make trouble..

In the video, Scheller said he was continuing to speak out even though it could jeopardize a deal that he claimed the Marine Corps had offered him, under which he would accept nonjudicial punishment, resign his commission, forfeit his military pension, and accept a general discharge under honorable conditions rather than face a court-martial.

He was already going to lose his pension, subby. This is all about martyrdom and getting his MAGA bonafides so he can hit the simp (meant in the denotative) circuit and cash in like Flynn did:

In the video, Scheller vowed to file the charges through his chain of command and directly to "the former Raytheon board director, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin."

He's not hiding his contempt of the Biden administration. I know dick about the UCMJ, but I think he could be in a world of shiat before his civilian life begins.

This is like the interview question of who to service first and they are of equal stature.

The answer is ask your boss. He knows what politics may be in play that may be are unaware of.

This does not look to be a wise decision on his part. OTOH this might earn him a medal from "the desk of president Trump" with an endorsement to run for public office.

Oh yeah.., this could happen.

You're absolutely correct, there's a reason why McNulty was constantly asking, "...the fark did I do?"

Every McNulty needs a Bunk to warn him then, when it subsequently blows up in his face, to deliver the question, "Ya happy now, biatch?"

I'm wondering if this mud-slapper officer will try to invoke Sov-Cit Admiralty jurisdiction.

Be fun to hold the trial at sea until the Navy Captain gets pissed and yells "Get the F off my boat! Forward or aft torpedo tubes, your choice."

I probably would be wearing my dress uniform and my medals.

But, I actually passed the ASVAB, so I didn't have to join the Marines.
