Don't approach wild animals should be obvious.

Andrew Murgatroyd from Llandudno's coastguard team told BBC Radio Wales Breakfast there were around 120 of the "very famous" goats across the Orme

Not a word in the article about the danger of goats butting you off the cliff into the sea, which is what I was expecting to read.

Wait, what's an lfie?

Goats will butt you if you annoy them. The bastards often wait to do it when your back is turned.

What you need to do is point your fingers up by your temples and charge at them head first. They respect the courage. Make sure your GoPro is on.

Heh. We adopted / re-homed a goat that had been raised with dogs. He ate dog food, and slept in a doghouse. He would sneak up behind you -- but to hump you, not to butt you. All the sudden his front lets were over your shoulders, and he was gettin' busy.

Speaking of goats and cameras, someone in my photography group snapped this beauty on Mount Rainier on Monday.

How can a goat take a selfie? They have no thumbs.

My grandfather, a Southern Country Gentleman (translation: a racist bastard who inherited a former plantation) had a "yard goat."  It was a billy goat allowed to wander free on the estate.

Grandma was on her knees gardening one day and the billy goat tried that on her.  Grandad was there to see it.

Poor goat died the following day from a testicular gunshot injury.

/knowing Grandad, he probably ate the goat, too
//while vociferously enjoying every bite

So Grandad was fine letting a billy run free until it messed with his wife.  Was he mean and stupid or just stupid?

Just mean.  He was a Colonel in the Army Air Forces, and flew B-17s in WWII, so he wasn't stupid.

But he was definitely mean.

It apparently was a common practice to have a yard goat or two.  I mean, I assume that they were penned up at night or during bad weather, but they had the run of the yard.  I mean, this was an Estate.  It used to be a cotton plantation... back in the days.  He had "the help" to manage the stables, tend the grounds, keep house, and cook.  (You can guess the continent of their heritage.)

And he was an unapologetic Rebel sympathizer, racist to the core.  He'd be a MAGAt for sure if he were still walking the planet.

I do remember that vegetable garden was fenced, though, so Grandma must've left the fence open.

I've heard of some pretty dumb reasons to kill an animal.

This is one of them.

We camp in Shenandoah national park. I love watching the tourists go right up to the bears to take pictures. They don't seem to realize that wild animals can and probably will kill them. Even the deer may kill you if you frighten them. I always tell them the old saying . " I don't have to run faster then the bear, I just  have to run faster then you."

Having seen many of them in Glacier, they operate by the same rules as the goats in the article. Stay away, take photos from a distance, keep your eyes on the pointy parts, and move slow. Wherever they are is their turf, not yours.

Goats should not take selfies on cliffs.

And what people are doing on a cliff with goats is the $60,000 question. This is beyond suicidally stupid.

You're right... dammit, I missed the "do you mean Grandpa or the goat?" comeback.
