They were raised by people who DGAF what they were watching on TV or the Internet and therefore turned parenting responsibilities over to their kids' online contacts?

Has been an issue at my kids' high school - Now half the bathrooms are closed, you can't use them during passing time, must sign out of class - and door monitored at lunch hour.  Kids that aren't into Tic-Tok bullshiat are getting pissed at the morons who triggered this reaction.  Anyone stealing stuff at this point better hope it's teachers or staff that catch them, as some of my daughter's friends are ready to go with vigilante justice.

I work for a school district. So I am really getting a kick out of most of these replies. Some of you guys are very good at making it sound like you know what you are talking about. But trust me... you don't. I think you just want to make yourself sound smart, when in reality you don't know what you are talking about. This is how bad info gets passed around. If you don't know about the topic... don't make yourself sound like you do. Cuz some Farkers belive anything they hear.

/you wouldn't want to know how off-the-rails the kids really are in my district, and the worst news hasn't found its way to the media yet.

Stealing a whole urinal is disgusting and also borderline impressive?

Complete dick move and I'm sure the kids not involved in this stupid bullshiat are thrilled about paying the price, but still.

Back in my day, we didn't have camera phones, so when someone blew up a massive turd in the boys room that covered the ceiling with liquid shiat, you had to sneak in a camera the size of a cinder block and share the video the hard way.

It's not just the kids.  My niece works at a school where the teachers are stealing soap from the bathrooms.

THe same school where the boys piss in the garbage cans for kicks and giggles.

Not to this much of a dumbass level, thanks to social media.  Yes, I dropped an M-80 in the toilet when I was in high school.  Big boom!

Stupid crap like this is why I decided not to teach high school like I originally intended. This "trend" is stupider, more costly, and more head-desk-y than flag pole sitting and stuffing a goddamn phone booth. Kleptomania isn't a f*cking social media brag, it's just stupid.

Had anyone tried that in my high school days (someone probably did, but there was no social media then--Facebook was still a couple years away), they would have had a challenge. Want to steal a toilet? Good luck, because it's so sealed into the wall that it would survive a nuke. Steal a computer? Where are you going to hide the two-ton beige box AND a monitor I could use as a boat anchor?

Just WHY. Why would you do that. Go back to watching people slapping each other as a contest, I guess. Or whatever "new" "dance" is on there. I know I'm An Old, but Jesus Tapdancing Christ the abject stupidity makes me want to take a bat to whoever started this shiat.

And god help my nieces if I find either of them is doing this. Their dad and I will make the national news.

""Devious Licks" TikTok challenge leaving bathrooms plundered in many schools across the nation"

As children, the bathrooms are left plundered. As adults, the bathrooms are left sundered.

Such poor water discipline.

I blame the Harkonnens.

2021-09-18 6:31:50 PM
My high school had a kid who would make a shiat bomb every time he took a crap and splatter it all over the bathroom walls. I had already moved to another school district by the time friends told me they caught the kid doing it and it was the one of the last people any of us would have expected to pull something like that.

2021-09-18 6:34:40 PM
It's the name that really bothers me. Devious Licks? It's almost like someone did speech to text for 'devious lifts' and was like 'fark it, close enough'

You know who keeps their bathrooms secure. Jails. I mean doors on stalls are a want not a need.

Now there's an expression I never thought I'd hear: trophy urinal.

2021-09-18 6:41:52 PM
Whenever I hear "the kids are doing..." I require an extra high standard of evidence. There have been too many outrageous stories over the years that were overblown by either the source or the media because the masses just eat this stuff up.

So I'm not ready to believe this is some new trend sweeping the nation.

Oh, I've got one hell of a relevant (not so)CSB for this:

My wife and I are the legal guardians of her nephew. He's 16, and has been an attention-seeking class clown for as long as we've had him. He gets in trouble at school pretty regularly. No matter what we (or his therapists) do, we can't get him to wise up and fly right. Gaining notoriety among his peers for being extreme and disruptive just seems to be his personality.

Anyway, a couple days ago, he told us about kids at school stealing fixtures and hardware from the school bathrooms. Said some kid walked into class with a urinal. He thought it was absolutely hilarious. We told him, in the strongest terms, that it was vandalism and theft, that it was not funny, and he was not to get involved with it.

Of course, the next day we get a call from the school. He was caught trying to steal a soap dispenser. And he was filming it on a cell phone (he isn't allowed to have a cell phone, so where it came from, we have no idea). My wife had to go in and pick him up for the day. But he only got punished with in-school suspension for a few days, which seems pretty damn minor to me; I honestly expected law enforcement involvement.

However, on the ride home, he decides he doesn't want to face even these minor consequences and plays the "I'm legitimately crazy" card. Tells my wife he has suicidal/homicidal ideations. Of course we take this seriously, as we must, and he gets taken in immediately for a mental health evaluation. He tells the psychologist interviewing him he hears voices (he doesn't, btw, he just isn't smart enough to know you NEVER lie to a doctor about your mental state). Now he's 5 hours away, in a mental institution, being held for a 3 day observation.

He'll probably end up on heavy meds with an incorrect diagnosis that will follow him for the rest of his life. All because he got caught trying to make a Devious Licks video and didn't want to face the consequences.

I'd like to know the origin of "licking" as slang for theft. Some kid telling their friend that they licked the toilet paper roller from the bathroom has multiple meanings now apparently.

Scared straight has a pretty short shelf life.  Even if it takes don't expect it to work forever, a few months, a year, or two is the best case. I worked in the Mental Health field for a couple of decades and I would see repeat clients regularly.

Issue each student a full size toilet to carry around with them.  If they need to use it, the place it where they are, drop trou and pinch one off.  Then they pick the toilet up again and take it with them.

Problem solved.
