I'm sick of this, and I'm not even a Jeopardy watcher. FFS, just give it to Al Pacino and move on.

OFFS.  You've let Mike f*cking Richards, known best in the game show production world as King Asshole (and that is really saying something in those circles) to kill Jeopardy! with his sheer assholery.  You lost your stage manager and contestant coordinator because of him, two really great, absolutely essential people with tons of experience and cred in your organization.  You lost your core audience, who cannot believe you let that smarmy prick run a sham interview process and then hire himself.  You lost sponsors.  You lost an institution in the US, with the format and focus being all about the contestants and their knowledge, not about some smirking, self-important f*cker showing off how privileged and powerful he is.

You, Sony Entertainment, just killed the goddamn Golden Goose so Mike Richards - Mike f*cking Richards - could eat it.  I hope those blowies he was giving in the executive washroom were worth that.

Now, go find a firm to do an actual search - start with Trebek's picks, Alex Faust or Laura Coates.  Don't look for a famous name, it's about the contestants, you f*cking morons.  Look for someone who can read the clues and stay the f*ck out of the way, but still look smart enough to be a player.  Jesus, that should not have been hard.

But nooooooo - you dumb f*ckers went for Mike f*cking Richards, because he's been schmoozing and politicking and blow-jobbing his way there ever since he was a failed game show host.  He wanted that job, and if he couldn't work his way up the ladder into it, he'd parachute down to it from the office.  And you stupid f*ckers let him do it!

Stop it with the bullshiat.  Just admit you were wrong, hire a firm to find the right unknown and make damn sure they have a CLEAN F*CKING RECORD YOU GODDAMN MORONS. That isn't hard.  5 minutes on google could show you the shiat on their shoes, if you weren't too stupid and lazy to look for it.

God damn, this really pisses me off.  They had well over a year to get ready for this hand-off, and they did it in absolutely the most bone-headed and damaging way possible.  And now Jeopardy! - sadly one of the last bastions of rewarding intellect and academic accomplishment - is dead.   It just plays into the entire culture of silliness and idiocracy.

F*CK.

I know, I know.  It's just... you don't usually see a business lose their most popular and perhaps most profitable division over some single asshole playing office politics.  And it had a pretty devastating effect, way beyond Sony.

The older I get, the less I think "maybe those guys got where they are because they work harder or are smarter than I am".  It's almost always "they schmooze better and have fewer ethical concerns".  And since those are the primary hurdles, intelligence knowledge and wisdom are going to suffer from not being the first filters and may just be lower than average.

We live in a world of morons, run by morons.  And every once in a while, some particularly special person comes along and lifts us all up a little bit further for reasons I really don't get.  I'm pretty much burned out from trying despite not being one of those 'particularly special persons', and I'm now more, "I just hope to live long enough to see some of you morons suffer from your own stupidity despite all the warnings given".  Trying to help people is exhausting because for the most part they don't want help unless they're literally in immediate danger.

Yes, she's an anti-vaxxer.  She's done some bullshiat half-assed backtracking, but she thinks she knows better than the doctors.  And she uses her degree to shill snake oil.  She is representative of one of the more serious problems with Western culture.

Exactly.  I can't kiss ass.  I'm glad to be in a job right now that appreciates me for my talents, and what I can bring to the table.

Last job I worked at passed me over for promotion five times in my last year there.  They downsized me out instead.  I tried to get back in over the Summer in a position that I was more than qualified for.  That didn't work, so I tried a different position.  I then tried to get in as a tech, and no go there either.  It's because I tell it like it is.  May also have had something to do with the boss and I had an interest in the same lady to date.

She has concerns about her children having adverse reactions to vaccines, but had never gotten a flu vaccine herself, to help protect her unvaccinated kids? Kind of sounds like an anti-vaxxer.

Maybe she should stop posting anti-vaccine stuff then.

In 2009, she told People magazine her family was a "non-vaccinating" one: "we based [our decision] on research and discussions with our pediatrician, and we've been happy with that decision," she said in that interview.

At one point, he compared the "persecution" of parents who don't vaccinate to that of Jews in Nazi Germany (he later apologized for the comparison).

She also victim blamed Harvey Weinstein's victims!

https://www.thedailybeast.com/jeopardy-host-mayim-bialiks-ugly-history-of-shaming-weinsteins-victims-and-being-an-anti-vaxxer

Sure, she never says she's anti-vaccine (except in 2009 when she did say that exact thing) but she sure does share a lot of stories of people who suffered from vaccines and they're all totally real.  She's just "making a dialogue" or "just asking questions".

My favorite time she JAQ'ed off was this:
"There are those among us who believe that if the baby can't survive a home labor, it is OK for it to pass peacefully. I do not subscribe to this, but I know that some feel that... if a baby cannot make it through birth, it is not favored evolutionarily."

What eugenics bullsh*t is she repeating?  And why?

That is definitely the problem with the, "I just can't schmooze" mindset.  I've met people who use that as cover for being assholes, and they're clearly enjoying feeling superior to people around them.  They're toxic, and regardless of their technical skills they're not worth having around.

But the flip side is that the higher you go up the ladder, the more likely someone is an amoral political creature because they're the ones who survive the environment and the ones who want it.

Not really.

Last year she released a video on YouTube saying that, while she would get a Covid-19 vaccine when it became available, she had not given her kids flu shots and had delayed vaccinating them, though she said they were indeed vaccinated: "as of today, my children may not have had every one of the vaccinations that your children have, but my children are vaccinated." Bialik added that she felt children receive "way too many vaccines in this country" and that "the medical community often operate[s] from a place of fear in order to make money."

Yes she has, and I hope she means it. However, she is selling vitamins that are supposed to help your brain. She is using her degree in neuroscience to peddle this vitamins. She should know that there is no known supplement to help one's memory or brain. Supplements only work if you are deficient in that vitamin or mineral. Giving that, I don't fully trust her saying she changed her mind. I am not the biggest fan of her hosting that, for her peddling those vitamins.

People that have loved ones with memory or brain issues are going to believe her, and buy something that will not work. They will be wasting their money. My grandmother has dementia, I take care of her, this kind of shiat bothers me. I have seen people use their degrees to peddle shiat that will hurt people in the long run. My dad had prostrate cancer, and his friend bought a bunch of supplements from his chiropractor, because his chiropractor said it will help his cancer. Whatever on the vaxxing front.  I think she could be okay if she'd just calm it down a bit.  Don't get all squirrely when somebody gets a difficult one (that's why they're there) and also not so much on the Welcome Committee slash Pep Rally mode...Sure it took Alex awhile to tone his 'exuberance' down to establish the tone of the show, but it's established now.  Adult, with some light humor, but they're not there for the audience.  The audience is there for the contestants, not the host.  Unlike most game shows, contestants are expected to be smart, not average, 'personality' people.

2021-09-16 4:05:51 PM
Not a fan of Bialik but even she is better than Richards. However, they could bring back Alex to host as a hologram and I wouldn't watch Jeopardy! now, not as long as that insufferable, smarmy prick of a grad student Matt Amodio keeps winning. There's just something about his smirking manner that spikes my blood pressure every time I see him. Besides, the games just aren't as much fun to watch when one person runs away with them before getting to the final clue. I don't have to like the winner to enjoy the show but it needs to be at least somewhat competitive.

2021-09-16 4:06:41 PM
Personally I don't want Mayim Bialik at all.
She may have a degree in Neuroscience but on her wiki page "Bialik has said she did not have the grades needed for medical school"
So draw whatever conclusion you want from that.
She's a hollywood weirdo that at one time TMI'ed that she either breastfed her son until he was 8 - 10 or let him sleep in the marriage bed until then.

Yes she was on those shows and played those characters that many people liked but that was before she TMI'ed that stuff about her son.

Anyway she should not be a Jeopardy host.

I guess Ken Jennings is ok.
I believe Alex liked him and may have suggested him at one time.

Uncontrolled_Jibe: weddingsinger: Jesus, why?  She's an anti-vaxxer wellness nut and Jennings defended his podcast co-host when he bragged about refusing to feed his young child - bean dad also tweeted a bunch of anti-semitic, racist crap.

We can do better.

You must have done some serious research first, eh?

/Maybe we should all check things before posting what someone said about someone else?

So, she not an anti-vaxxer, but she still made a point to use a bunch of anti-vax talking points in her video about not being an anti-vaxxer. Got it.

She's not. She's retracted and corrected prior statements.

One of those pills has hormones in it that would make the cancer spread. One of his specialists said do not take them for that reason.

Yeah he sucks for that, but he is gone now. I can't call out a dead man. She is still alive, and she knows better.

In other words, its a (yet again) disguised (extended) audition, this time for the top two remaining candidates only, and they're not looking any further.

That's because a certain quarterback thought he wasn't getting the job, and went back to his team, only to start playing shiatty, so he could be released to go host Jeopardy once it came up again.

He's quite possibly too self-conscious about his lack of hair to do it.
