What what kind of plan would the lobsters have to stop her?

Hauling Lobsters: good band name or yet to be defined euphemism?  You decide!

I like to think she's force choking it for disappointing her.

I read that as "haunting" and wondered how the hell do you haunt a lobster.

Good for her.

And now I'm craving lobster.

OMG. When will she retire? She should give other people a chance to work. Sheesh. And, ya just gotta love that nepotism.

2021-09-16 7:56:04 AM
Cause you can't actually make enough money to retire from lobstering.

They only hand out so many of those permits.  Talk about gate keeping.  Her and f*cking "Max" need to get out the way.

Aw glad she's still alive. There was an article about her and lobstering last year when she was a 100.

For those don't know, getting a lobster license in New England is like getting season tickets to the Red Sox, i.e.  the wait time on the list is measured in years and someone literally has to die in order for a spot to free up.  So this lady has been pissing off fishermen for years because she keeps at it.  More power to her I say.

https://bangordailynews.com/2019/02/03/news/maine-lobstermen-ready-for-debate-over-license-wait-list/

Decades of science based fishing limits and licensing restrictions have provided for a steady and sustainable lobster haul (amazing what a group of sane blue states can do) but alas, it's all coming to an end.  Lobster, like salmon, cod, haddock, tuna and other cold water fish are dying off in US waters, victims of global warming.

The way it works is if you're grandfather was a lobsterman than you can be one.  If you aren't from a line of lobsterman the locals will pull your traps up and run the buoys through the doors of the trap and then dump it back overboard, but now your buoy floats about ten to fifteen feet under the surface and you most likely will never find it again.  I worked for a lobsterman in Maine when I was a teenager and he had been a violin maker in Albany, NY before moving to Maine.  An old Mainer with no children took him under his wing and taught him, but some of the other locals were still pretty awful to him.  We found several traps with their buoys run through them while I was working for him.

we are going to greenlight this lady until we greenlight her obit 9 times, aren't we?

ha, why? She might be an old lady, but she learned the lessons of capitalism. Capitalism, that process that most of you worship, right? As long as YOU"RE the one making money from it.
She's just like you.

She said she has no intention to stop, but she is concerned about the health of Maine's lobster population, which she said is subject to heavy fishing pressure these days.
"I've done it all my life, so I might as well keep doing it," Oliver said.

She's CONCERNED.

Really? Are you really trying some line about how liberals take care of the earth? did you stop breathing or something? Stop shopping? Stop traveling? Stop eating out, stop eating meat, change your predatory job, drive less, turn your heat down, turn your AC down, stop ordering things from Amazon?

You didn't do any of that. Shove off. You probably eat lobsters too.

"I like doing it, I like being along the water," she said. "And so I'm going to keep on doing it just as long as I can. "

Which you could do from a chair on the dock.
Just another version of "I got mine, so fark you." And you all like and admire that, right?

I'm just trying to get it straight here. Fark is clearly a place that really likes snotty lifestyles and letting all that snotty liberal consumerism hang right out.
So if you run into a poor person who exemplifies those same values, do you admire it, or do you want to see it die? There seems to be an awful lot of double-talk going on around here. So if I go eat a lobster that i can't afford, but I just got some good news and I really really like lobster, you laugh at me, right? Tell me that's how poor people are, farking irresponsible.
But if you go out and blow $300 on a lobster dinner that impoverishes the earth and does nothing but puff up your already inflated ego, that's Srious Business and I should be honored, HONORED to wait on you?

I don't think you guys know what you're talking about. Now do the sort of economics you do where the resource base is infinite.
You know, the same sort of economics you've been doing all along.
