Quantumbunny: mariner314: What If... we're just watching bad programming because it's marvel and we're just numb to it.

What If.... Has definitely been the worst Marvel content this far. Movie or TV. I'm still not even sold on the the animation style.

Check out Inhumans and get back to us.

This episode was essentially a bunch of "Curse Your Sudden But Inevitable Betrayal" moments strung together.

I wish they had kept him around as a recurring villain in the MCU. He was so much fun.

Every time we see T'challa it feels like he's saying  goodbye. I love Killmonger and Klaue both. This wasn't my favorite episode but once the action shifted to Wakanda, I was sold.

The stories are good, or at least have potential. The issue is they all have such a short running time, so everything feel very rushed. Also, to be frank, the voice acting isn't that great. I said this in another thread, but it's becoming somewhat obvious that live-action acting is a much different skill that voice acting. Not everyone is bad, but not everyone is good either

Djimon knocked it out of the park. I really want to watch video of him recording those lines, because it sounds like he went full fanboi in the booth. The most unexpected and entertaining character so far, imho.

Extra Virgin Geek Olive Oil: I wasn't a fan of this series until the Dr Strange episode. That one is by FAR the best one. Zombies is a distant second.

I'm not sure about this one... We'll see where it ranks later.

Zombies was bad. Completely overdone concept, executed pretty meekly. I liked 3 a lot (death of the avengers) and 4. But zombies is distant last to me despite 1 and 2 both being lackluster.

They've been fun to watch, but I just wish not every episode was MCU based.  Disney has the rights back to pretty much everything except F4.  Give us Wolverine killing Hulk.  Show us Punisher as a SHIELD agent.  Or Xavier as Juggernaut.

Yeah, I want to like this show.  I like the animation style and concept.  But most of the stories have been lame re-tellings or mashups of the movies.

That's kind of the point? I mean, this is the MCU so of course they're going to do MCU "What Ifs...?". You may as well be wanting a "What if Batman's mom's name wasn't Martha?" storyline

And "What If..." is re-tellings/mashups of older stories. Again that's kind of the point, what if these stories you know didn't go exactly like they did. Whether they're lame is up for debate, but again it's kind of the point of the series

I enjoyed it well enough. Working an overnight job it's nice to come home at 5am and see that Disney has already uploaded their content. None of that wait until 10am or whatever crap.

Tbf, that's the MO of the "What If...?" comics too for the most part if I'm remembering correctly

I wonder where they are going with this character. This episode was more of a 'Introducing ... Will he or Won't he ... ?' rather than a 'What If ...?'

Most of the voice acting sounds like when someone uses a movie quote soundboard to make a video

I wish the episodes were longer as well in the case of the good ones.  Episode 1 felt particularly rushed.  They remind me of the last season of Game of Thrones, where they're just rushing to get through the story beats they want to hit.

I'm enjoying the season for the most part.  I'm chalking up the zombie episode to general zombie burnout.  The rest are at least ok to enjoyable concepts, though execution is a bit hit and miss.  I feel bad for the people who do well live acting that are struggling with the voice acting.  This has been a real eye opener for me just how much voice acting must be a way different skill set.

The best part being he was entirely mercenary. There was no moral entirely evil or entirely good with him. He was making bank and having a farkton of fun with it.

/ may be somewhat sympathetic to mercs.

Yep.  I wouldn't have him as the lead villain in any movie, but having him periodically show up for one or two scenes just to be a pain in the ass would have been so great.

amindtat: Most of these episodes, except for the Dr. Strange one, have felt like they were written as comic books that were supposed to be part of a multi-issue story arc, but we're only given the 1st issue.

Pretty sure that's exactly what they were.
