Well if they're finally done with that perhaps they can start taking down the people who organized, funded, and incited insurrection.

The only reason they care about the mafia is that they don't pay taxes, and that's different from how they treat corporations who do all the same shiat the mafia does because, well, whatever. Plus it justifies their existence in ways that holding the wealthy and powerful accountable apparently does not.

wow.
How hard is that?
It's not like they caught THEM ON CAMERA BREAKING INTO CONGRESS.

Oh that would have taken YEARS of investigation.

So impressed.

The little pizzaria I went to as a kid that was THE local place that had killer pizza had criminal ties.  People said it was the mafia, but it was drugs and Italians so I'm not sure if that was true or racism.  Turned out that they were laundering cocaine money through it and it got the place shut down.  Some of the managers that were patsies tried to reopen it under a different name but they couldn't get it going again.  I know my mom forbade us from going down there and eating after the bust and I'm pretty sure that's what killed it forever.  Now I believe the building is a head shop and vape store.

It just seems like it would be easier to run a completely legitimate business. Hell, they could probably run payday loan places and get away with charging usurious interest

Mobsters are nothing but bullies. We generally hate all bullies, but romanticize these assholes.

Mobsters are fundamentally no different from C-Suite executives and corporate board members. They're only operating away from the public eye and they don't go through the proper channels to avoid paying taxes the way "respectable business leaders" do.

I read a quote once from an imprisoned mobster that he considered it a lot easier to make an honest million but he went with what he had. Can't remember who, feel like it was Capone's accountant
