Seeing as how I'm ordained and have a state-issued minister's license, I think I'm gonna send this in to HR and see what happens.  I'm sure my union will have fun with this.

Yes, there is such a thing as natural immunity.

Tell me, have you heard about hybrid immunity? That's what a person has when they've been infected by the coronavirus and then later immunized against the coronavirus. The newest studies of such people suggest that people with such a COVID history produce huge levels of antibodies to fight future infections AND that their antibodies are flexible enough to fight off almost any type of coronavirus infection. Neither is true of people who have merely gotten COVID or merely been vaccinated. It's a superhuman ability in a world where those typically only appear in comics and movies.

Don't you want to be a real life superhero? Get vaccinated for COVID.

What we have here, is that the people that have believed in science and followed along, have finally become fed up with the people that won't, continuing to endanger those that cannot. We aren't extremists, we are exhausted.

I am intrigued by religious exemptions.  Not because they exist, or the constitutional or historical support of such exemptions.  I am intrigued by how readily people are to admit that they do not have sincere religious beliefs.

Excepting the very small group of people who avoid all therapies that used cells derived from fetal tissue in their development or testing, all people who are now trying to claim religious exemptions as a convenience to avoid the vaccine are basically saying 'To me, religion is not about honest beliefs, but about convenience, appearance, and entitlement, so much so that I am willing to commit blasphemy or sacrilege without hesitation or awareness'

Out of curiosity, in what order did the infections and the vaccination happen? So far, the studies into hybrid immunity have focused exclusively on people who were infected in 2020 and then received an mRNA vaccine sometime in 2021.

Just had an antivaxxer take up a cubical in my office.  I am now working remotely... which I wanted to do, but I'm pissed at the reason.

The antivaxxer ought to be the one sent home, but that will come soon enough.  Though I'm pretty sure they'll cave and get the shots and we'll just all have to listen to the biatching about it.  Still, with the time before they're forced to get the first shot and the two-week delay after the the second, I'm probably working remotely until 2022.

In our religion, when you die and go to heaven, there's a beer volcano and a stripper factory. The strippers come in two types - slutty and extra slutty. I'm getting the extra slutty. My wife wants a mix of the two so that she doesn't get bored.

No one here is asking people who cannot get vaccinated for a legit medical reason to get vaxxed anyway.
To the contrary, one of the reasons we ask everyone who can to get vaxxed is to protect those who cannot.
It is the morons who CAN but WON'T get vaxxed we decry about. How is that being an extremist?

First infection/positive test was October 2020. Second infection/positive was... shiat it's kinda cloudy, maybe February/March 2021? Vaccination a few months after that.

Also pretty damn sure I had it December 2019, got my ass kicked by something I had never experienced before. Pretty much the exact same symptoms I had the first confirmed time around, but back then covid was widely unheard of, so I just figured it was the flu or something. Kept me out of work for 3 days straight (which has never happened in the 25 years of me having a job), but symptoms like no energy, tight chest, hard to catch my breath kept on for a good week after that, I just soldiered on cuz I can't not work, and again, at the time, covid "wasn't a thing".

Damn. That is just shiat luck on your part. I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles with COVID.

Not that it's really good news, but other than having a repeat infection before your vaccination, you are exactly the kind of person scientists have rigorously studied and found to have hybrid immunity. I'd be shocked if you had another infection that left you with symptoms as bad as described. The only reason I can think of as to why you might not be so lucky is if you're otherwise immunocompromised and not acquiring immunity from any source.

WTP 2: if you are vaccinated, why do you care if anyone else is ???

Because vaccination isn't a perfect defense, it's just a damned good one.   Because as a vaccinated person I can still get sick (though it's less likely and less likely to be a bad case if I do), and if I do become infected I can pass it along to someone else who is more vulnerable.

Because the unvaccinated form a virus reservoir from which dangerous mutations can emerge.

The unvaccinated should not be tolerated.  They are ignorant fools who should be either marginalized to the point they can't interact with anyone else, or forced to get the shots.

that is the question you are wanting to ask, so ask it.  We will answer.

Then ask yourself, "why do I not care about anyone else?" and take a long walk to think about it before you respond.

Yep, and you have to wait what, 90 days after having had COVID, before they'll let you get vaccinated?  I forget the exact time.  Which is pretty okay, because natural/learned immunity from having had it should last a bit longer than that, although from what I've read, not as long as from vaccination.

151: First infection/positive test was October 2020. Second infection/positive was... shiat it's kinda cloudy, maybe February/March 2021? Vaccination a few months after that.

Oh, you too?  Spent Christmas-New Years 2019 with my folks (Dad was turning 80) along with wife, 3 kids (eldest of them a biomedical sciences major visiting from university in the UK) and maybe mother-in-law.

All of us got some degree of Martian Death Brochiti-flu that knocked us on our asses for a week and took a couple more weeks to recover from. For good measure, we also had a gastrointestinal bug make the rounds, each of it getting it for a day, except eldest kid who got it twice several days apart - given the course of study, this is just being a good scientist and repeating the experiment.

Ever since the pandemic started, we all kinda wondered if that was what it was... or if there was some other seriously nasty shiat making the rounds that never got named?  And we all took every possible measure to avoid getting sick again until we could get vaccinated.  (The younger kids are still waiting for that.)

not lately.  too much stupid has been flustering me lately.

My company has "returned to work". Apparently the pandemic is over with the way they are scheduling in-person meetings any events.

We have a nice in-person meeting in a month consisting of about 500 people in an auditorium, no spacing. Followed by breakout professional development sessions the remainder of the day.
Working on a find a way to attend it yet avoid all of it.
