Pluto just isn't a planet by a rational standard - there is no way to differentiate between it and an inconvenient number of other TNOs other than "We noticed Pluto first so we want it grandfathered in".  That's not a useful scientific distinction when you're classifying things.

Reclassifying something because it's "inconvenient" isn't a useful scientific definition either.

I'm OK with dozens of planets.  Tailoring the definition to keep the list down so that third graders can memorize the names of the planets seems kind of strange to me.

And I'm not sure that the Earth satisfies all the conditions.
