Past the racism, the fascism, the death from treatable plagues, the total disregard for science, the disrespect towards women, and the faith put in impossible-to-verify-nonsense the worst part about running as a Republican is knowing that your Hollywood heroes will dunk on you.

And there are counties that voted overwhelmingly for recall. One of them was 82% in favor of the recall.
I can assure you those people will claim the election was fraudulent, because they don't know anybody that voted against the recall.

He must have grifted enough money and decided the extra attention wouldn't be beneficial.

I dunno, he IS a black Republican. I don't see that sort of grift being as successful for him, post-defeat, as it was for Trump and co.

/Both because of the large number of racists in the GQP and because potential marks already gave up their life savings to "Stop the Steal".

So, how long until the dingbats gather another round of signatures (from the exact same people, natch) to have another recall election? What's the over/under?

Two weeks.

Gonna assume the GQP continues throwing recall elections at Calif in an effort to keep them too busy to actually govern until something finally sticks or Calif changes the law to not be so easily exploited by these insane farking idiots.

Ok, but there needs to be a more logical process to get a recall election. That was an obscene amount of money to spend on an extra election.

I am going to sleep a little easier tonight. Maybe I'll dream about making a big sign to take to the walkway overpass where the tiny but dedicated band of RECALL GAVIN crowd spent the last few days, and ask cars passing by to honk if they can think of better ways to spend $276 million in taxpayer dollars.

Oh there was grift, but the recall backfired so bad, Newsom ended up with it, $24 million in his campaign account ready to go for his reelection.

Why can't they? They know who gave them the signatures in the first place. Won't those same people do it again? As for the date of the election, why would that matter to the people behind this effort?

Lassen has 34k people and Modoc has about 10k. Both have a population density of about two people per square mile. They're barely a blip when it comes to California's population.

But those people were heard, and they got told to sit down and shut up by the rest of California.

Put it this way:  By the time they get all the signatures together, the recall ballot assembled, and the recall election set, it will be time to elect a new governor anyway. I'm not saying they WOULDN'T do it...just why would they waste the time and money instead of, you know, electing a new governor?

If they want a new governor, they just have to elect one in 2022. If they recall Newsom next year, their "winner" will be governor for a whole month before they have to reelect him again in November. I know it wouldn't matter to the nutjobs who run around wanting  him gone; but it would to the GQP party in CA who have to foot the bill.
