Thank you. American Elections are lot's of fun.

You can have lots of fun with them without be a voter, or even an American.

Our Canadian Election is already over before it is held, with scarcely a peep of any dissent or originality.

Saint Joe Piscopo, California?

Some of the places I invent should actually exist.

JustSurfin: skinink: Sanguine Dawn: I know a guy who did phone-banking for Newsom. And he farking hates Newsom. That should tell you just how toxic Larry Elder was to Californians.

As a minority, I'm a little ashamed and embarrassed that Larry Elder ran on the platform he had, and as a Republican. I'm glad he lost, despite me knowing the many flaws that Newsom has. The Republicans seems to want to run the worst candidates, then cry voter fraud when they lose.

Which is why I'd bet that in 2024, the Republican Presidential nominee will be someone shiatty, like DeSantis. Then when he loses, the GOP will scream that the vote was rigged against them.

Stolen from another thread...

The Lone Gunman: Only one thing to do now: recall again! And THIS time, we'll get it right because we only need to win once and when we do, we'll just rewrite the rules so we ALWAYS win!

Beats having policies that makes Americans' lives better amirite?

Policies are always too controversial and appeal only to a tiny minority. That's how they get you. Instead of policies, Republicans (and most Democrats) have rectal thermometers to judge the mood of the voters. Then they suppress the wrong voters.

Hagbardr: skybird659: Duck_of_Doom: skybird659: maxandgrinch: Damn, I was hoping out of the 50+ candidates who tossed their name in the mud slinger and we'd get some random Colorado pot enthusiast or an Olympic medal winner....

[Fark user image 425x318]

Caitlyn Jenner never competed in the Olympics, that was Bruce Jenner. You know, her 'dead' name.

Are they not the same person, just more in line with who she is? Or is the medal revoked because first names don't match?

Do you need to sit and think about what you just posted?

Have you ever talked to a trans about their 'dead' name? The woman Caitlyn never competted. The man Bruce does not exist anymore.

"A trans"?

fark off

Sorry, does the nooby gen have a new letter? I came out in '77 and transexuals AND transvestites both responded to 'trans'. Wich new phrase are you preferring for 'woman born in a man's body'? Serious, titles change. When I was a child in the early '60's, 'colored' was the term that became 'black' in late 60's that became 'African American' which has brought bacl 'Black' with capitol  B.  Honestly not trying to be offensive, just old enough to have seen that each generation needs it's own definitions of sub culture. Have been friends with all labels, prefer 'humans' myself but was politically 'Gay' and 'Dyke in my late teens, 20's. By 30's just getting tired of all labels, just seem like more wats to 'divide and conquer'! Now, at 63 I wiah we could dump 'red and blue states' (thanks Bush, Cheney' and get back to being 'Americans' with 2 main parties. I DO know that this generation considers their incorrect birth gender name as their 'dead' name (their term) and physiologically, hormanl and surgically changed Caitlyn has never competed in Olympics and has publically denounced her life (except for the medals) of Bruce.

Campaigning while black. How dare he.

Arsehole dickhead tRumplickers come in all colors. Just ask Kanye West or Steve Harvey.

Steve Harvey?  WTF?  Really?  Whatever.  There are asshole everywhere.

Yeah. When the orang pedophile was running in '15 good ol' Uncle Steve stood right next to him in an add while clown had his arm around his Black Friend And Supporter.

If he was supporting Trump in 2015, I might give him a partial pass.  I'll cut him some slack.  If he supported Trump after August 2018 (Charlottesville march), f$ck him.

Ok. Partially remove Steve and insert 'Ben ("it was my wife's fault") Carson instead.

They'll have to have a drive-in insurrection. Californians don't walk anywhere. They're definitely like Trump in that respect.

Khellendros:Lying under oath is a crime.  Lying to a police officer is as well.  As is lying on your taxes or any federal, state, or local government paperwork.  Lying to damage a person's business or reputation is covered under civil law, allowing for extensive damages to be recovered.  There are dozens of laws in most states covering falsely reporting crimes, manufacturing evidence, etc.  These are all considered to be reasonable and upheld limits on the 1st Amendment.

Making it a crime to claim election fraud without evidence isn't a leap.

By your logic... lying under oath is a crime, therefore we can criminalize lying to your spouse over whether a particular blouse makes him look handsome.

No. No we farking cannot. Lying is permitted by the First Amendment (yes rly) and there are precious few exceptions to the first amendment. The existence of a small number of exceptions to the first amendment does not give us infinite ability to weasel "I don't like this" into an exception.

And to repeat myself... you would have been happy with the Trump Admin deciding who should be charged with lying about an election? AYFKM?

"Small number"?  Are you farking kidding me with this shiat?

There are literally TENS OF THOUSANDS of exceptions in law to the first amendment, all cleanly enshrined in law.  Most of them tested and upheld by various courts of appeals and SCOTUS.  At every level of government - local, state, and federal.  Harassment, threatening, saying fire in a crowded theater, perjury, lying on tax forms, lying on your driver's license, lying to police, libel, slander, saying bomb in an airport, on and on.  All ranges of incitement, making false statements to authority, obscenity laws, copyright/trademark law, gag orders, free speech zones, protest permits... Jesus, are you that clueless?  There are entire law libraries detailing the legal speech obligations and limitations of the press, employers, teachers, state employees, police, elected officers, corporate BoD members, fiduciaries.

The first amendment details rights that are literally the most regulated explicit rights we have.  And those limitations exist for a reason.  And when you see the damage certain speech causes - especially when it's factually untrue - it's reasonable to legislate it.  That's why these tens of thousands of laws exist, sparky.

Go back to elementary school, so you can learn the difference between facts and opinions.  From a legal standpoint, they're very different things and have different standards.

jvl: And to repeat myself... you would have been happy with the Trump Admin deciding who should be charged with lying about an election?

No, and nothing in my posts even approaches something that colossally stupid.  Why are you building absurd strawmen to knock down?  It certainly doesn't make you look very bright.

But it would have been cool if the billboard woman famous for being famous had won.

I disagree. I don't think there would have been anything remotely cool about that. Did you bother to look into her? She seems pretty whacked. Just an AW looking to up her game.

Or a bike-in insurrection. Just because we refuse to walk anywhere doesn't necessarily mean we're in a car.

Well ya got me there. We're more interested in making miserable motorists lives even more miserable. At least that's what they seem to believe. The idea that people like to ride bicycles, and that it's perfectly legal for them to do so doesn't even cross their feeble minds.

Oh, absolutely. We did the research back when she was having her sugar daddies plastering her picture on billboards all over Lost Angeles. Her only claim to fame, other than that she apparently gives vacuous blondes a bad name*, is that "she is famous for being famous" (which I believe is a quote from her). She would (probably) be an absolute disaster for the state. Voting for her was our Inner Nihilists coming out. But if voters booted Newsom, then we really DGAF about what happens to them.

* Though I suspect there may be a scheming twisted clever brain behind all that fluff.
