There's an old saying in Tennessee-I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee-that says, fool me once, shame on-shame on you. Fool me-you can't get fooled again.

I am, for the moment, still a Texan. I have both of my shots and my immunocompromised wife has both of the original schedule and a booster.

For those not in the know, Texas is a shiathole. Far, far worse than what those outside of the state see on the media.Abbot and his Texiban government are doing their damndest to drag everyone back to the 17th century and subverting the liberties of a vast majority of Texans whether they realize it at the moment or not.

I sincerely state that if Texas were leveled to the ground and returned to Mexico, nothing of value would be lost.

Pinner: I thought about maybe bailing on the second shot

I couldn't wait to get the second shot.

Two weeks later the mask came off for good.

They don't know how to protect themselves from the virus because they can't shoot it.

I get it. I thought about maybe bailing on the second shot when I got mine in the spring. I'm not anti vax, but getting the shot really puts things in perspective that this pandemic is very real. I then looked fwd to #2.
They way things have been going, sooo glad I did it. May wait for the booster for a bit depending on the way Utah numbers go for the next 3 months.
I think people are just scared.  The reality of the virus is something that is really tough to face for some. It's easier to look for an out, because you're nervous. Like latching on to misinformation to help you say no, then cite that reason because you couldn't deal with making a decision.
These are the gullibles. The trumpers in power and rw media are circling, feeding them BS which they are leaning into for reassurance.
These are the same people that respond to Coke is better than Pepsi ads, then flip a year later when Pepsi is better than Coke.
At least they got one shot... aaalmost there.

Most of this story is 3rd hand hearsay, but we need to count natural immunity and stop only counting vaccination.   Many folks strongly suspect that they were exposed and had mild symptoms, took a few days off work and never got tested.    They didn't get tested because because they knew people with positive test results were getting kicked out of work for a month plus regardless of symptoms.

Now there are some folks that are trying to get vaccinations to satisfy mandates and having severe reactions.   On going to their doctor they find that their anti-body counts are absurdly high and being told if they take the second shot with their counts that high they will end up in the hospital.   They don't need another shot, but they might be able to take it if they wait 6 weeks, and even then the doctor wants them to contact the doctor when they do for fear they may still have reactions severe enough to warrant additional medical care.

I'm the positive test result that had to stay home from work for 6 weeks despite being symptom free after 2 weeks.   I also got the vaccination shots a few months later with no serious reaction.   The rest of the people referred to above are just the water cooler stories from work.

I fully support the idea that folks that already have a high anti-body count for the COVID have no reason to get a vaccination for the small additional benefit, when they are already many times more protected by their natural response than those with only protection of the vaccination.    This would allow the vaccinations to be focused where they do the most good as well as reduce some of the adverse reaction stories that cause the hesitant to be hesitant.

mrshowrules: aerojockey: One shot of Pfizer is probably not much different than one shot of J&J.  Less effective but still better than nothing.  I'm choosing to regard this news in more of an, "Oh well at least they tried", sort of way.

Having a few million people with partial immunity seems like the ideal method to develop a vaccine resistant variant.

No.  Ideal method is to have those million who got one shot people have no immunity at all.  Every time the virus replicates it has a chance to mutate, so the best way to prevent variants it to prevent the virus is to minimize how often it replicates .  Vaccines causing immunity is (mostly) junk science.

Stop repeating this nonsense.
