Mathematically, there has to be aliens out there.
But like others have said, the sheer mind boggling distances of space make visitation nearly impossible.
However, I like to entertain the notion that the UFO's we do see are probes piloted by robots that were able to make the trip here over millions of years and are sending data home with technology we don't yet possess.

On the internet no one knows you're an alien.

Oh, well if the real-life counterpart to the characters in the Monty Python "Upper-class Twit of the Year" skit, who's never actually accomplished anything or even managed to reach the cutting edge of technology by buying other people's companies that were already almost there, believes it, then it must be true.

// Winning the lottery by coincidentally being heavily invested into a business that was failing when you ran it after you'd been kicked out and someone else caused it to succeed isn't quite the same thing as accomplishing something.

If they are 50000 light years away they'd have to be technologically advanced enough well over 50000 years ago and decide to head our direction. We've been broadcasting for maybe 100 years. They don't know we exist yet.

Probes or machine intelligence could easily cross the distance even if it took thousands of years to go single light year. Once in a new system, use local resources to make multiple copies to even more stars. Doing this, your civilization's machines can be in every solar system in the galaxy in a very short amount of time astronomically speaking. I'd be shocked if we could not do it for a small budget in a century or two assuming we don't kill ourselves off.
