That has got to be the shiattiest live blog I've ever seen. How about letting us know what's being introduced and what its features are instead of going on about how cool the pink color is.

No matter how hard they sell it, a phone camera will never be as good as a real one.

You strapped yours onto a motorcycle too?

This sort of depends on the purpose, and it would appear that most everyone else agrees that it's a much better option for catching daily life.

Exactly.  Besides, how else would you be able to document the start of this season?

As in, document it without stepping in a massive puddle of someone else's misfortune.

Why does the iPad mini not have phone capability (when it has 5G)?

Apple A14 processor was a 40% improvement over same device with an A12.

Apple iPad mini has an A15 processor which is a 40% improvement over A12 equipped device.

Seems to imply that the new A15 and A14 processors are about the same in performance.

The camera you have on you is the best camera.

Agreed in general, but phone cameras are damn good these days.  My SLR is collecting dust now because my Pixel 4 camera is so good that it does the job 90% of the time, and it's always with me in my pocket. I never have to miss a random moment when I'm out and about.

With a SLR, I'd have to plan around it, carry a camera bag with me, etc.  99% of the time I just don't bother.

Of course not when the alternatives allow for bigger chips, dedicated processors, lenses, etc.

I have a collection of cameras, but as others have mentioned, the "best" one is the one you have on you.  And I usually have my phone on me at all times, so I welcome any improvement.

The increased battery life, despite moving to brighter screens with a higher refresh rate indicates they optimized for reduced power this time.

Which was fine, since they were already so far ahead in performance.

The gap is getting smaller and smaller.

If you're a professional photographer, I mean a real working photographer, not a guy with a "joe blow photography " Facebook page,  a real camera is essential. If you're taking pictures for online posting, maybe printing the occasional 8x10s, etc, the difference is  going to be negligible. And the convenience factor is a huge, huge selling point over traditional cameras.

I've got a 5D mark III and several 2.8 L lenses. Took a bag fill out a few weeks ago and found it not only frustrating but heavy.  The 2.8 70-200 is laser sharp feels like a cement block when hanging off my shoulder.

I'm still using an iPhone 5. And it works great as a phone, does email, and runs apps. So what am I missing here?

Security updates?

I imagine as time progresses, those apps will be less likely to run well as they get updated for the newer OS.
