Or if you just have the tail you put it under the broiler.  Either way, it's really not that hard.

Lifehacker should itself be fried.

Since the author astutely referenced DF Wallace's article:

Consider the Lobster

If I'd attempted frying a lobster it would either be soft shelled in a cracker crumb coat or cut up then fried in a south Asian hot oil.

I'm open to putting some things in my mouth.

I won't be putting a lobster in there.

Why don't you have lobster every single meal? Why refuse yourself anything?
Air fryer lobster. Whatever.

air fryers are small, counter top convection ovens

so, you are not in fact frying your lobster, you are basting it with liquid fat and baking it

"I can't afford to fill up on lobster alone, but they make a nice accessory to a plate of pasta, a rice bowl filled with tofu and veggies, or a small steak (greetings, surf & turf)."

But Claire! You left out the best part! Lobsters are so versatile

they make a wonderful addition to your favorite sandwiches!

Don't forget the 'Ranch Pickles'

CSB: my neighbour used to make his kids "everything sandwiches". They consisted of ham, mayo, penut butter, molasses, and a slice of american cheese on white bread. The kids loved them.

I view them as a supplementary protein; even at $6 per tail

I see little 4-5 oz tails on sale for $5 around here sometimes, and that's with the shell on and probably still a little ice from being frozen. That works out to something like $20+/lb, so no, that isn't a nice little weekday treat or whatever.

I guess making schitt up for lifehakker pays well. *shrug*

To be fair Clair also mentions how low fat it is and then just globs it with butter.

But I'm with you. Much easier to find pork tenderloin or chicken breast on sale at a cost effective point and protein per pound and pound per price.

She's literally just baking lobster in butter and asking why no one else would think of that.

I'm suddenly struck with morbid curiosity... could you just... toss a lobster into a deep fryer?
