This guy. Never really saw the appeal, even as a kid. I can't EVEN as an adult.  But then again, that was sort of the point of the article. You want to throw in mints in a bag, they'd better be Junior Mints. Which are made ONLY for popping during a movie, with popcorn and a large Dr Pepper.

I never ate them. I would bite off the inner tab just to taste it, then spit it out.

I always remembered the houses that gave out Snickers. WE BECAME FRIENDS FOR LIFE.

Better than candy corn

I loved those things, even though they tasted weird and didn't amount to much.

They were Halloween.

Bit o' Honey... now those were nasty.

"so why would you eat wax lips?"
I accidentally GIS'd that as 'waxed' lips

Hey! I like peppermints.

I always hated the weird puffy peanut candy. And candy corn. Fark everything about candy corn.

I assume all these writers had no friends, siblings, cousins or classmates to trade with. Or it's a sense of humor I don't get. Getting Halloween candy I wasn't crazy about was the least of my childhood worries.

Oh I do too. But I don't pretend that the majority isn't going to feel trolled by that pic.

I'm going with non-candy this year.

Play-Doh, Silly Putty, crayons, & sidewalk chalk.

Sugar Daddy was invented in 1925, but Mariam Webster puts the first recorded use of the phrase at 1926.

Is the word 'wax' capitalized now? Is that because it is the title of a substance?

We used it as slingshot ammo. We could shoot rats off of the powerlines and if we missed it wasn't going to break anything.

That article had 4 authors.

Four.  Authors.  To list 4 candies and the justification for one of them was almost just "fark you."

Circus Peanuts, Licorice, Candy Corn, and Nicco wafers (which might be out of business now, I keep seeing articles going either way).  There, can I collect the salary of a takeout author now?

Paydays and birch beer would be my only reasons to hit the US at the moment.
Oh and Entenmann's cheese danishes.

I liked Sugar Saddies. I liked BBB Bats also.
Bit O Honey, Mary Janes, and Neco Wafers were always what was left in my Halloween bag, never to be eaten.

I see them in stores all the time. Made in Mexico now, the original company did go under but the candy they made is still in production. They taste the same from what I can tell (although I wouldn't want to do a chemical test and find out what is actually in it, probably some lead).

No lead. Just chalk and a little gypsum to hold it together.

Ohhh those wax bottles. They're so completely underwhelming as a candy but so exciting as a concept. I still fall for them occasionally, usually in a gift/candy shop on vacation.

Hard disagree. Candy cigarettes were great. Not the bubble gum ones though. While cool you could puff the powdered sugar with the gum ones, the chalky candy ones you posted were awesome.

Right!  I forgot about the powdered ones. I was thinking of the gum which just sucked.

Way to know your smokes as a kid!

Rolos and Krackle were the shiat as a kid.

Anymore the only way to sucker me into candy is Chocolate covered espresso beans.

Note to self: hand out chocolate covered espresso beans to the little bastards. Good luck parents.
