That's the point. These are states that systematically oppress and deliberately depress their citizens. The state and local governments serve the wealthy and shiat on the poor, especially minorities. So it should be no shock that they refuse to take care of or protect their citizens during a pandemic.

It's not the residents of trailer parks who are bad necessarily, it's the owners and people who make them necessary that are the problem.

That's really unfair, he does it at least every morning.

Shiatty predatory capitalism that they will steadfastly defend at the ballot box, mind you, because socialism or something.

Back when banks paid me to harass delinquent mortgagors on the weekends, I noticed that over half the work orders were for mobile homes, a quarter specifically in parks.  Housing is getting more expensive, because builders are too lazy for the most part to adhere to modern building codes.  So instead, a lot of mobile homes are being built and sent to New Mexico, and they are pretty much standard housing outside of city limits (and inside the more impoverished towns).

Agree.  I'm shocked I haven't needed to move in to one yet,. I think a fairer correlation would be goatees and sleeveless shirts. Moved from DC to Kentucky and I think it's a law. Along with some sort of sick reverse emissions.

Huh.

Was just reading the states and it seems the largest group being hesitant is not trailer park dwellers.

The might be the loudest, but not the most numerous, if we are equating trailer parks with being white trash.

Matter of fact.

"While as of late July 2021, White adults accounted for the largest share (57%) of unvaccinated adults, Black and Hispanic people remain less likely than their White counterparts to have received a vaccine, leaving them at increased risk, particularly as the variant spreads"

We got dipshiats in every color of the rainbow not getting vaxxed.

Just hate them all equally.

I'm sure there are good residents of trailer parks. I'm sure some voted for Biden, but odds are that they voted for trump and they are refusing vaccines and masks at a higher rate than others.  They may be victims, but they are also guilty of not doing enough to help themselves.

I'm OK making fun of them for voting for their economic oppressors. I'm OK with making fun of them for doing that while living in squalor.

I'm not OK with making fun of people living in squalor for their living in squalor, as the headline does.

These states are committing literal genocide. Systemic racism is causing African Americans to become infected, get hospitalized and die at higher rates than any other ethic group. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/06/27/why-black-americans-arent-being-vaccinated/

Where are these people concentrated? Mostly in GOP controlled states, of course. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Percentage-of-black-or-African-American-adults-aged-18-years-and-older-United-States_fig2_7414532

Under $300,000 and for sale in my zip code: a 1970s trailer on .2 acre. Trailer needs to be removed and replaced as it would not pass a purchase inspection for a bank loan.

$165,000.

That's it. There's your choice.

I would love to see a multiple regression analysis on this across the states using % Republican, % Caucasian
standardized test scores, Fox News viewership, Christian identity, ratio of federal revenue to expenditures, obesity rates, gun ownership, etc. as independent variables to see which is the best predictor of contracting COVID.  Visually, I imagine it would be one big glob of overlapping circles on a Venn diagram, leaving an exposed crescent of the first wave victims, children, and collateral damage from anti-vaxer/maskers through all waves.

TFA does not contain the word "trailer". It's only in their headline. Their source is a Business Insider article, whose source is a Washington Post article. Actually The Root also cites the WaPo article, which makes me wonder why the fark they bother citing Business Insider since it's getting all its information from the WaPo article. Anyway, the WaPo article does not mention trailer parks or mobile homes.

The point is that cases and deaths lately have been much higher in red states than blue states. While true, I had to read the WaPo article to get any idea what time period they're talking about, which is a pretty damn important part of their point. The period is from late June to the present.

The trailer park reference is literally nothing but clickbait in The Root's headline.

Last month a poll came out showing 91% of democrats responding that they had at least one shot of the vaccine and only 50% of Republicans. There was even a significant difference between Republicans who put allegiance to Trump over the GOP vs. Republicans who put allegiance to the GOP over Trump (How did they find any of those people? Did they specifically poll Lincoln Project staff?). That was 46% to 62%.

Even among GOP supporters, Trump attracts the dumbest of the dumb.

Worse, it's racist clickbait.  I could just as easily put up an article on the correlation. "Inner city housing project/crime index". Were I to publish something with that headline I don't doubt the writers at The Root would get the intended message and be quite offended.

I get why they're doing it but it's not helpful.

Not subby, but my Facebook feed is littered with high school classmates that are none of those things - they live in trailers in rural areas and are as MAGA red as you can get, and are basically subsistence living, and often on some sort of government support.  Not sure what part of the country you live in, but it rings true for some parts around me.
