Definitely could be things happening if other things happen and different things don't happen. That's obvious to anyone.

It's not really the what will happen you need to worry about - it's the when the what will happen.

Thanks guy. I'm more worried about Y'all Queda and the Y'alliban. Our homegrown terrorists have always been the biggest threat.

Is Panetta getting intelligence briefings at his retirement home? The answer is, invariably, no. As such, he should shut his pie hole.

The secret is to throw yourself at the ground and completely miss - for example when you are suddenly distracted by a butterfly.

Yeah right. The whole world knows now all they need to terrorize the country is a bunch of fake social media accounts telling dumb ass American's to take horse medicine.

At some point they'll figure out the magic formula Facebook posts that convinces a bunch of fat neckbeards that they need to start putting IED's on all the freeways and we'll be really F-ed in the A.

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns-the ones we don't know we don't know.- Rumsfeld

at present we're beaten, staring down a huge societal schism and in no mood for broad military action.

I am not sure why anyone would want to risk giving us a common enemy to rally against anytime soon.

Hey now, fat neckbeards don't deserve that kind of association. Now if you told us that shipping bomb-making equipment would get us an anime with a satisfying ending, you might be onto something there.

Violent terrorism? fark that. It's clearly way cheaper and easier to sustain to just pose as a concerned mom with the secret to healthy living and get people to drink bleach in droves. Want a message with that? Just put some effort behind hijacking some chunk of QAnon or whatever crops up next; they'll take anything no matter how implausible.

As is often the case, propaganda > munitions.

Desperate to get back into Afghanistan, unable to live without that flow of contractor dough.

So greedy it defies belief but it's still not obvious enough for people to not give them the time of day.

Intelligence goons trying to justify a bigger budget and more freedom to violate other people's rights? Especially POC's? Can't say I'm shocked. World would be better off without our intelligence agencies running around. Country would be too

I bet that people pay him a lot of money to say that.  Old government people love to continue to make money off of people who just want to be told things that they should already know.

I can't wait for his "Water is Wet" speaking tour.

The daylight between the beardo rightist religious fanatics here and the beardo rightists religious fanatics over there is ... pretty slim at this point. The longer it goes before one of our own actually reads the farking Q'ran, the better. Last thing we need is these loons realizing ISIS venerate Jesus and Mary at least as much as nominal Christians do.

In fact, like the Nazis and the Imperial Japanese, the racist asshattery preventing true cooperation may be what dooms them in the end. 🤞🏻

I'm hoping some serious, experience Farker can answer this question.

Why, when we went to war with War on Terror, did we deploy so many contractors and not basically run it as an American war where there are cooks and all the types of people you sort of associate with 20th century wars?

Is it because this way is cheaper?
Is it they didn't want to have to draft people?
Is it somehow more efficient?
Is it because the contractors stood to make a lot of money and they are paying the campaigns of republicans?

Eye of the Storm
Youtube q-ZE37H9ZbI

You don't have to know the answer to it all
You don't have to find the reasons, big or small
You just have to read between the lines, is all

And you won't fall
You'll hear the call

You don't have to understand the grand design
You don't have to know the hour or the time
You just have to read the writing on the signs

The eye of the storm
Belies the fury to come
The eye of the storm
Beguiles the foolish one

You don't have to hide your head beneath the sand
You don't have to live inside a sheltered land
You just have to recognize the times at hand

The eye of the storm
Belies the fury to come
The eye of the storm
Beguiles the foolish one

The eye of the storm
Seems safe and warm
But soon there will come
The wind and the rage
Of a million wars

The eye of the storm
Belies the fury to come
The eye of the storm
Beguiles the foolish one

The eye of the storm
Seems safe and warm
But soon there will come
The wind and the rage
Of a million wars

You don't have to see the future to be warned
You just have to see through the eye of the storm
... of the storm

Eye of the storm
Eye of the storm
Eye of the storm

It is was not cheaper, we haven't had a draft in this country through my lifetime and beyond and in no way is it more efficient. There's something to be said for the whole grifty aspect of it - everyone wantsta get paid, natch - but the real bugaboo?

The real bugaboo was Donny Farking Rumsfeld. Rummy never met anyone as brave and clever as himself. And his ideas - which frankly seemed to come wholesale from the Whiz Kids around Mac in the nineteen farking sixties and the godfarked PNC to the extent those were different groups - were very rigorous, very mathematical. Very much a business proposition; buy low sell high. An American war, if you will.

Of course, he was also disastrously wrong. But Rummy didn't know that because he lived in a bubble of 1960s America that never went away. (Really, two Fifties and straight to the Seventies but I think you get my meaning here.)

The Ford Motor Company won WWII. The business of America is business. Low taxes, high savings, hard work = "the American way." And a host of other farkuppery that stopped being relevant in oh, say, 1975. Rummy was his very own unknown unknown.

But he didn't know it. And because he was unable to apply his own rigorous, mathematical approach to himself - and because he served as SecDef twice, both as the youngest and the oldest to occupy the office - he thought he knew all there was to know. No one smarter, no one braver, etc. The damage he did remains incalculable to this day.

I mean if one runs into a crowded building screaming, "We're all going to die!" they are technically correct. No need to panic.

Yes but the targets are increasingly harder to get to since you can't blow up Americans in their backyard any more.

I mean, we only had ourselves to blame that we didn't heed the warnings of how Obama had just courted the next terrorist attack with his policies.

(Why yes: Cheney did confidently predict that Obama had dropped the ball and was to blame for the next attack less than a month into his first term.)
