androids are vulnerable to the same problem. it fries the stabilization gyro. Depends on the model of phone, some don't have it so they're "immune."

This has been known for ages in the cycling world and is why you shell out for a dedicated bike computer instead of strapping your phone to your handlebars (which would seem like the obvious approach).
