...drinking on an empty stomach will make you feel the effects much faster.

Yes. This is the desired outcome and exactly why I drink the coffee first.

Monday morning:

Drink a beer
Drink a black coffee
Meanwhile, shower and stretch
Go for a ride
Make breakfast
drink beer, probably watch a race
confront the day.

*this actually doesn't happen that often because Monday is the traditional 'rest day' of bike racing, a lot of Mondays I have to confront the day having seen no live bike racing AT ALL!

I guess that explains the 6 minutes between your posts.

the caffeine will kick in much faster than if you had food in your system.

Yes, and...?

No shiat. It's the same with alcohol.

Just like drinking alcohol with an empty stomach versus a full stomach. How is this groundbreaking or mind-blowing information again?

Isn't that the whole point of coffee?
I do like the taste... I make cappuccinos for the wife and I every morning. I also expect it to help clear the mental cobwebs. Being tasty and such makes it just that much better.
It's probably still good for you even if it is only the placebo effect. *shrug*

Doesn't the body express more adenosine receptors to bind to caffeine after a short period (like 7 days) of starting to ingest caffeine regularly, and thus cause tolerance, i.e., caffeine to be non-stimulating?

I love a coffee. If I go for too long without I start getting all Communist. I haven't had one all day and I'm already starting to feel a bit like encouraging a revolution of the proletariat.

"According to the Harvard School of Public Health, caffeine takes about 45 minutes to become absorbed in your body."

This why God invented nicotine. I can make breakfast later.

In the middle ages most people had ale with breakfast.  Even the monastery poor house served a 4oz loaf of bread and a half pint of ale for breakfast before they kicked you out.

Caffeine on an empty stomach is probably not a problem. With low blood sugar, though, it might be.

Some of us wake up and just need to eat pretty quickly. Others might wake up and do things that might lower the blood sugar before breakfast, like going for a... morning jog.

I wake up, drink a small pot of coffee then go back to bed. Don't think caffeine works on me any more.
