A TJ Watt album would be mostly bro-country.

Possibly some Limp Bizkit.

He's an amazing player , and given the cap is going back up, the contract matches his performance to date.

However, he won't be making many plays this year since any smart team will run the ball right down Highsmith throat on the opposite side, just like they did all end of last year once Dupree got hurt. As great as Watt is as an overall player. For the Steelers scheme Duoree was actually more important.  I expect you'll see Ingram starting by mid-season and a 1st round draftpick of Edge/OLB.

Yes, I also agree that no player ever improves from their rookie season

Cleveland got the better player at a better price.  That's why they're going up and the Stillers are going down.

When he gains 20 pound of muscle, while simultaneously getting .2 faster in the 40 and 10 yard split of 0.1  just by not being a rookie, ill agree.   Otherwise he will never be able to set the edge, or run down plays from the backside.

So it looks like T.J. Watt got exactly what he wanted. Which makes the reason(s) why the Steelers held out so long kinda stupid.

If you can't watch replays and see the difference in run defense vs the same type of plays, it's on you.   It has nothing to do with reads, experience... all to do with athleticism and strength. Dupree is a once a generation 99.9999th %ile freak athlete who had no technique and low instincts.  Highsmith is a run of the mill NFL pass rusher with good technique and hand control.  He has no strength or speed to play run D, nor can his frame take much more mass.

Haha, I guess there's no sense in playing the season then. Athletes in their early 20s are cemented in how good the can be for their whole careers

You're comparing wrong. Compare Highsmith last year to Dupree's rookie year. He is WAY ahead and might actually be a reason for excitement this year.

If you insist on being cynical, point your focus at Wormley (or maybe Pierre), not Highsmith.

Dupree was an elite run defender from year 1.

He didn't hold out. His agents did. He overruled their strategy to force more money out of Pittsburgh to sign the contract. They were urging him to wait out the weekend.

He probably had what he wanted weeks ago.
